Subject: What are .DS_Store files?

A lot of freebies (and commercial files) contain .DS_Store files. Out of curiosity, what are these for?

They are MacOS filesystem information converted to files for other OSs (e.g: Windows).

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.
