Subject: Calling (almost) all Pro Pack documentation issues!

Hello yet again, Well, I'm doing up the docs for the much-anticipated Pro Pack update. I am reviewing the docs thoroughly and would love to know if anyone has spotted any errors or omissions. I am always trying to improve our doc quality to better serve all of you, and your input is extremely welcome. Please, don't comment on the hard copy/PDF issue. Your positions are already crystal clear on that point :-) Thanks in advance, Anthony Hernandez Curious Labs

well since this is a Bug fix update will it be a free download from Curious Labs?? and have you actually tested it thoroughly on the MaC OS with system 8.6 or higher and Lightwave 6.5?? Mocap

It is a free update, and I am not in Engineering and do not know what exactly has been done "behind the scenes". This is not to blow you off; rather, in the absence of my having solid info I can't speculate. Anthony

Pro Pack has docs? :::scrambles to haul her cd's off the top of the stereo speakers and run 'em through file manager::: sunny ma gum...there IS docs! Kate (just being my usual sarcastic self ;->)

Oooh, an update... Now I don't feel so bad about waiting to get the PPP... Will the update be available in the "boxed" version of the Pro Pack? If that's the case, I'll take my time ordering (otherwise, the moment the tax refunds show up I'm on the phone...).

I'll be able to let you know this weekend. Time to get out the red marker. ;-}~ Some of us couldn't wait for the refund check to show up ...

I'm having problems with the documentation already. I'm going through the Set Up Room area and it is driving me nuts. Instructions are: "Do this, do that." They're not always clear on HOW to do it. I jumped to the Wormy tutorial to try to work through my confusion. Okay, create the hip bone, chest bone, etc. Should the bones I create say "Hip, Chest, etc." or do I rename them later and if so, how? Creating the tailbones took at least 7 tries. Tries 1 - 3 had the tailbone connected to the head bone. (Wormy the Butthead.) Tries 4 and 5 repositioned the hip bone. Try 6 or 7 finally worked. I'm going to practice some more, but I think I finally figured out how to create the tailbones without messing up the hip. Something to the effect of: "Click the hip to select it, then start the tailbone outside the range of the hip bone" would have made it clearer. Where is the Next Group button as referenced on page 78? The couple of minutes to create Wormy was over 30 plus expletives. Also, please don't assume that we're Poser Pros. Some of us are buying this because we're not experts. I didn't even know where the Joint Editor Palette was until I had to hunt for it. Maybe you list it somewhere else, but I jumped to the Wormy tutorial from the beginning of the Set Up Room chapter because I was having problems understanding some of the information and figured it would make more sense if I worked through it. It's a small thing, but it was frustrating. I still can't figure out how to select polygons to put into groups but I'll bash my head against it more tomorrow. On the plus side, now that I've mostly forced Wormy into submission, the overall process is much clearer.

Wow, Crescent, you're the first to mention large content issues. I literally learned the Setup Room by playing with the files that became Wormy and the Robot. I sat there and went through many hours of expletives, talking to the coders, etc (mostly because my pre-alpha versions kept crashing). So that was based on my own learning process. Try going through the chapter again, slowly, step by step. I know I wrote it for complete n00bies. If you have specific questions, let me know. It really is pretty easy -And, in case I am wrong (I am biased, after all!), specific questions will help me determine if and where I need to add stuff. :-) Anthony
