Subject: Alpha Channel Changing?

Hi, Thanks to those that have helped me so far. I'm new to Poser but I'm getting the hang of it pretty quickly (I think). Bear with me. I have a question about the Alpha Channel when I export. Basically, I export animations as Quicktime.PNG's with the Alpha Channel intact (Millions of Colours +). Then I open them up in After Effects to overlay on live-action or artwork, etc. I notice that when I change the default aspect ratio of my Poser videos eg. say from 490 x 500 to 720 x 480, it does something weird to my Alpha Channel. In After Effects it says that it is now Straight Unmatted instead of Pre-Multiplied. Anyway, the result is 'jaggy edges'! My question is, how do I make standard video aspect ratio animations eg. 720 x 480, 720 x 576, 768 x 576, etc and still keep a Pre-Multiplied Alpha Channel? I've got a workaround, which is to keep the aspect ratio the same and just increase the width to, say, 720 (which makes the height 735). Then I resize things in After Effects. Still, it would be nice to do it all in Poser. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance, ALEX hybrid@bigpond.net.au

PNG is a lossy compression. So the jaggys may also be the result of anti-aliasing.

Try exporting to .AVI not quick time. Or a series of .BMPs then join these to make an .avi.

I find trying to get Poser output rendered at the exact same resolution as mini DV, never  seems to work either. you have to enlarge or decrease your poser clip to make it work.

Playing with some test chromakey pieces usualy gives me to get the best results to find the right resizing value.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

if using quicktime and exporting series of images, then export as tiff (no compression).

Thanks for the help. Much appreciated. I've since found that if I change the resolution BUT keep the aspect ratio, the Alpha Channel remain Pre-Multiplied. Will definitely export as Image Sequences from now on, where fine quality is an issue. Thanks again. ALEX
