Subject: OT: printer ink?

Can anyone recommend a site that sells refurbished ink cartridges for printers? I have an HP cp 1700 ps printer that was discontinued after only a couple of years and HP no longer has any support products for sale. That's what I hate about printers. Machines last longer than support products. Thanx.

Redundancy is what keeps consumerism, and to the same extent, capitalism, going.  It's the same with cars, computers etc., etc. And is the reason why the US and other western nations are eating up the world's resources so rapidly. Use it, then throw it away.  Keeps the shareholders happy anyway. At least with Poser almost everything can be used and used again. In fact, is the Poser community really the Poser "commune" ???.  Never thought of us as a "fifth column" before.

ABC Co. is one place; they've got ink cartridges for just about everything, including your model.

it's the cartridges where they make their money. Refills can be dicy; some people do them well, and some don't. Leakage is usually the main problem.

In your case, not being under warranty, you don't have much to lose, so you could go for it, but to those who have machines under warranty, HP won't honor it for any problems caused by 3rd party or refill cartridges, ink or toner.

HP puts chips in their  cartridges to count down to let you know when the consumable has run out, and 3rd party units won't have the chip. The newer printers will continually have a message 'non-hp cartridge in...' for as long as the cart is there. It doesn't always make that much difference, but it annoys some folks..;)

Pakled repairs HP printers IRL for a livin'.

I recently bought a new 3 in 1 HP printer because the ink cartridges for my previous HP printer cost more than the new printer!!

Ink  x2  = £55

3 in 1 HP printer £49

Says it all doesn't it!!

Hi there,

I also have a CP1700 from HP and I just checked the online store at HP. They have the inks for your printer and even offer free shipping.

What they discontinued are the parts such as the double sided printing device and the network interface.

I hate refill inks because of the quality drop in the print colors.

Hope this helps

Jean

I've used refills and agree with ticounne.  It's been my experience that the colors are unreliable and for those of you who own an Epson printer, NEVER use the refills!!!!

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

from HP Partsurfer (do a Google Search). These are the cartridges, from HP's web site. The 3rd, and last 2 still have 'buy' arrows next to them, so they can be purchased.

It's got that way here Down Under - if you need to buy new new cartridges coz the old ones won't refill anymore - it's cheaper to buy a new printer.

Who would have thought we would have seen the day of disposable printers??????
