Yet another model for FlightGear, made using Wings3D...  Right now it's early in the WIP stage.

Started my second aircraft recently based on a World War 2 Avro Lancaster.  Presently at the stage of adding detail. Modelled with Cinema4D 9.6. More details can be found in the 'The Rainmaker' thread at the Renderosity Cinema4D forum [ http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2703250](http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2703250)

About done detailing in Silo 2.0 beta 11a. Now moving into Vue 6 Infinite for advanced materials, decals, dirt, etc. Then eventually a dramatic Vue scene.

jc: A nice conclusion to your workship. The decals you added make it much realistic.

Latest attempt at modeling the Sea Siren, my research jetmarine. First time I've tried a  modeler other than tS, but as good a modeler as it is, it really wasn't getting me anywhere. This is in Hex, and entirely without booleans. After this, I may go back into tS and finish the  old Sea Siren, if what I learned in Hexagon can apply there. I don't really know if tS 6.6 can handle mesh surfaces as well as Hex. :)

Looking good!

Have you checked out Silo 3D yet?

Teyon ( ) posted Sat, 18 August 2007 at 10:01 AM

For that last model, the style you're going for is more angular. I think you're just a teeny bit too roundish in features.

ZIKEO ( ) posted Sat, 18 August 2007 at 11:48 AM

Yes.
 I have to agree.
Although this mesh is more a base, for possibly other character creations.
The features are smooth and somewhat bland, without any distinction.
Hopefully then I can use him for more than just comicy/ cartoony layouts.
I didn't want to over populate the wire and then have to start stripping back, to then move forward.
And yes.
I could not bring myself to do a tubby over the hill Dredd.
It's just not possible for me to defile one of my all time favourite characters.
Although some hardcorers might consider it an abomination already!!!!!

One of several projects I have on the go. I like this ship as well as it's precurser because both are rare and each appeared in only one episode of Space 1999. If only REAL LIFE quit  interfering, I might actually get more done. :)

Is there any displacement there in the model?  Or is that bump texturing only you did?

Yes there is displacement. Done in Carrara 6P.
More noticable in the gray form.

Shonner: You have done a lot of work on this huge lookuing robot. The only thing that comes to mind is the materials - would your model look better with a metalic look, still using the textures you have made?

Becco_UK ( ) posted Sun, 09 December 2007 at 5:40 AM

Becco_UK ( ) posted Mon, 10 December 2007 at 3:04 AM

Shonner: That looks metalic now - nice work. I don't know about the material system you are using but is it also possible to mask out some paint chips and rust from your main metalic material - similar to that of your first textures?

ShawnDriscoll ( ) posted Mon, 10 December 2007 at 11:26 AM

Not sure what you mean.  Are you talking about rendering just the chips and rust while keeping everything else invisible?
