Subject: Vue 6 Infinite: Poser Shaders?

norm1153 ( ) posted Sun, 15 October 2006 at 5:59 PM · edited Sat, 16 November 2024 at 2:59 PM

Will we get some improved rendering of Poser skin in Vue 6 Infinite?  I seem to recall some talk about that when e-on first announced Vue 6, but now I do not see anything relevant on their website in the announcement.

It's the biggest thing I'd like to improve -- Poser skin rendering

Thanks,

Norm

According to the ad release, Vue 6 Infinite will support proper importing of the Poser shader tree, and I -think- that also applies to Esprit and Pro studio.

Forgive me for asking, but what is wrong with the way Vue renders Poser skins?  I know I have to adjust the highlights but thats about it.  What am I missing that Vue could be doing better?

You're right, Gary, and if you use SkinVue2, no need for Poser shaders.

It isn't just a matter of skin being accurate, though. Think of the props and objects that either have a texture map enhanced by shaders, or textured fully with procedural shaders. With the P6/V6 interconnectivity, -all- of the shader effects will come over. This doesn't invalidate Skinvue; I would be surprised if the Vue native effects are still a little easier on system memory imported.

Dale, of course if you want to render entire Poser scenes in Vue, then using Poser shader tree is important. I'd rather use Poser to, well , pose a figure, import in Vue and create the rest of the scene in Vue, or import a Poser figure in a Vue scene.
