30D hasnt got anything - unless you are using chinese:

"We learned that some products have problems displaying Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese on the LCD monitor when the display language is set to these languages."

that is all the fix is apparently 😄

cant be bothered to update and risk messing things up just so a chinese person can use my camera 😉

Thanks for the heads up tho Danny

Sure Rich I would not bother either it is a fairly safe procedure if you follow the instructions carefully

Also there is a backup procedure to follow just in case you do make a mistake... Main thing is to have well charged batteries and unpack the files and then place them on a flash card the camera will recognise the right file before it will attempt the update..

if not any member who feels unhappy a local canon service center can do it for you.. In the case of the 5D is was worthwhile as it fixed one issue I had with some of my equipment

The linked site has step by step procedures...just make sure you put the d/l'd file onto the root dir of your card and follow the instructions in camera menu under firmware!
