Subject: Rules unclear and unfair

Yay bonestructure! Way to bring us back on topic!

Three kudos and an aluminum medal for bonestructure! Break out a case of my finest, most chemical-laden wine! Glasses for everyone!

Yes, once prized as a rare and precious metal, used to adorn the top of the Washington Monument and to deliver refreshment to parched beer and soda drinkers the world over, it is now available from our awards department in the form of these handsome, keepsake medals. Available to the public, too, for a small fee and several hours of community service. Snap some up today!

(Golly, I gotta cut back on the caffeine...)

...and nobody recognised Phineas and Fat Freddy's Cat.  Two of Gil Shelton's most famous characters. O tempora, O mores.

For shame!

Horrible Cat Accidents #1

You realize, this could lead to a whole new gallery for photoshopped cat humor. And this place could use a little humor.

I fail to understand how this thread of rules being unclear and unfair became a thread about photo-shoped cats.  Amazing .

In and amongst everything, the original question was asked and answered, from several different angles. A great deal of passion was put into it, from all sides, and a lot of other people added in some humor, possibly in an attempt to keep the conversation from devolving due to high emotions.

Add to this the fact that R'osity folk tend to be much more highly creative than the run of the mill, and you get this, the "Thread That Wouldn't Die."

Funny I just spoke with Kraig over at Daz and he said A4 is in her early 20's. So if we use an A4, and it "looks" young is that also a violation? Since Daz agrees that she is of age of consent, in fact above it?! Even the great masters of the old world did nude fae, and other sylph-like creatures! I only stae that art should not be censored unless it is craven and depraved, like depicting sex or violence on a child. I know my mother and every other mother has photos of their children nude on a rug or blanket! It is really no different.

Disney did nude cherubs and others in Fantasia! Funny my godson was 5 and I took him, he was delighted that the little fauns were bare boobed! LOL!

Hugs

Ariana

Yup. Quote from the TOS subsection on child nudity:

"Images of children or characters resembling children (including teens, pre adolescent, child like fairies and other imaginary figures..."

Emphasis added by me.

Only because Mr. Ebot kindly delivered this long-forgotten thread into my inbox and back into my present...

I think the cat picture posting habit is incredibly annoying. It happens at other 3d forums from time to time but nowhere near to the extent it does here.
I've also noticed that some very potentially disruptive and problematical threads often exist and do just fine in many other forums where the user base is overall more mature acting and more capable of dealing with hot issues.
I see threads in other places with serious hardcore CG industry pros calmly discussing even the hottest and most contentious issues without much flaming or anywhere near as much resorting to any form of forum nannying through the posting of cat pictures. Call it what you will, but the posting of cat pictures is essentially someone taking it upon themselves to try to divert the thread into a "safer" area where they feel more comfortable. Why they don't simply ignore such threads is beyond me, but I believe the secondary reasons are because they crave attention and also feel a need to mock the other people who are taking it more seriously.
Sometimes they do so after having been bested in an argument and wish to take the attention away from that.
But once it starts, however it starts, it draws in all the other cat-picture-posting people like a swarm of flies to a carcass in the sun and before you know it it's a free-for-all, overrun by the smug cat people, waving their collective kitty genitals in everyone's face as if some victory has been achieved.

Yeah, I'll probably get some obnoxious and annoying cat pictures tossed at me for that, maybe even a good old tried-'n'-true dead horse beating picture, but I don't care. I probably deserve it anyway, being all obnoxious and annoying myself much of the time...

Please Please Please lets just let this old thread go back to sleep lol. I can't go back and read 26 pages ..

I would rather see someone start another thread or contact admin if they have a question regarding the ORIGINAL first post in this thread, please.. I mean the first post was Oct 2006 and lots has changed here in those years so, give this poor girl a break and start a new thread if you really need to have a question answered otherwise, let's let this poor thing sleep on.

Oh and Hi Mike!!  Haven't seen you in a minute so wanted to give you a Hello!!

Captain Jack, I may be really ignorant here... But are you on staff at Ren? Just asking.

One last thing, especially since I see that things have gone way OT (*see Fat Freddy's Cat),

Art is supposed to create social commentary, change and growth by way of social rebellion, exposing anarchy, and expressing beauty/ugliness. I have seen many beautiful, and moving art based on children. Being a photographer I see lots of photo work from developing countries that would also violate the "Nudity" rule. But in their starkness would also bring awareness.

Now you think that nudity is a bad thing, how about posting a photo of an infant that was beaten severely by his parents? That was posted here on Ren, and I took offense to that (*goddess knows that it wasn't art!)! One it had no place here for the personal message that it was being used for, and Two, it was so graphic that it violated at least 3 rules here! Violence, Maiming, and Gore. And it was a 6 month old infant! You did not pull that image. Which I doubt made any sales in the RMP.

So how does an image harm this site? It doesn't. Unless someone decides it does. I had a dragon pic pulled for the warrior driving the sword into the neck... of a purely mythical creature. Since then I have seen lots of other pics that were more violent, more blood and less art. Heck I didn't complain. But every day I see NUDE THUMBNAILS, every day, and  Goddess knows how many gigantic (*like freakin' basketballs) Boobs. So I guess what I am saying is why don't you post an on site disclaimer, that has an open clear set of rules that one has to click to enter the galleries, and to post in the galleries (*oh you have one of those about thumbs... doesn't work), and to keep this from happening again just ban nudity?

It is sometimes hard to know what to do...

Hugs

Ariana

OH and YES... I will let this die. But the battered child photo should have raised a LOT of RED FLAGS! Just sickening.

Stacey, I care deeply for you and your pain is my pain, I promise. I have a very deep interior under all the wit and silliness (might be all the jelly doughnuts, though, I'm not sure...)

Seriously, I'll be good. One more answer and I'll go to another thread, promise. 😄

No, not me... I work as a software developer many miles away from R'osity's physical location. I'm just kind of an opinionated buttinsky.

If you do want to talk about what should or should not be, or what is or is not, or any other such fun stuff, I'll be around...

Just start a new thread 'cause I can't bear Stacey's pouty face. It makes me all sad inside.
