Hey guys.

Hope you are all gearing up for the NaNoWriMo that starts WEDNESDAY NEXT WEEK!
Write a 50000 word novel in one month, how scary is that!
My plan is done, my characters confirmed in writing - Now I just have to start writing. Roll on Wednesday!

Hugs all!

SusiQ

PS that means I won't be around for the month of Nov!

You've taken on quite a challenge, but I know you can do it.  :)

SusiQ ( ) posted Thu, 26 October 2006 at 7:44 AM

Are you going to join me?

It only means you need to write 1666.67 words a day...... ?

No, I'm not jumping into the contest. There was a time when I could have probably written that much a day and more, but that day is gone. But I will cheer you on all the way. I know you can do it!

Gearing up? I'm going crazy with waiting. My characters need to friggin escape my grey matter and get themselves into type.

BTW second nano (positive thinking)  and second win (/positive thinking)

<----- Aiming for 2k words/day.

midrael ( ) posted Fri, 27 October 2006 at 7:21 PM

Good luck to both of you! I'd actually love to take part in this too, but I'm wondering if I'll have the time during this coming month.

Let us know how you guys do! =)

It's not all about NaNoWriMo...there's other links too and documents
that may be of interest.

Hey Phoenix! How's the writing going?

I was kidnapped by some characters last night. They wouldn't let me sleep so held me hostage until they climbed out of my head.....

Things never go to plan... lol

At least I'm ahead with my daily word count.

Hugs all!

Well yesterday I was ahead by a little, despite fighting a migraine.  Before I went to bed I posted just over 2000 words. Which was my initial goal per day.

So I'm doing ok right now. Still in the opening chapter though, and I need to get moving with the story itself so I hope that today goes even better.

And yourself? How's your writing going?

Good going!!  You both are doing great.

LoL @ Dialyn.. Come on set a small competition here on renderosity.. Let others sweat with us!

@Phoenix   Mine is going really well. I managed to get a stack of writing done early while
the kids were watching TV.

But I suppose life has to catch up with us once in a while. I know that after only 2 days
my washing basket is about to climb out of the bathroom window from sheer panic!

As for my novel, I've hit the 10K mark last night before my head decided to shut down and
log off my eyes... (Damn! Been using windows too long!)

A new character has developed from within the shadows... His name is Phantom...  and I'm still waiting to see what relationship he has with my main character Amber..... LoL

An extract from the first (at least it could end up being the first chapter) of my NanoNovel.

Hope you don't get to bored.. It's a cross between Fanfic (WWE) and the paranormal genre...

A shiver of fear ran up her spine along with a dark trickle of excitement. This was her drug of choice. His choice. He chose to use a certain type of controlled violence against her when and where he wanted. Sometimes she loved it but he was becoming a bit of a bore lately. She needed a change, something different in her life. To spice up the colours again.

'It will come,' the masculine voice answered her thoughts again. 'Soon.'

She glanced over at Kevin and saw that he was concentrating on driving through the now misty road. She frowned, confused. "Did you just say something Kevin?" She risked asking.

He glanced at her in the dark but just saw a pale shape before him. "I'm driving. You know I don't talk when driving."

"Oh, yes." she replied, even more confused than before. Who was talking to her and more than that, how? She turned to look through the windscreen and gave a sharp scream. Kevin jumped in shock and wrenched the steering wheel aside as he noticed what Ariel had seen. A tall black shadow stood in the middle of the road, waiting. Waiing for them to run straight into it.

The car skidded sideways, tyres trying to grip on the slick tarred surface but failing miserably. It lunged off the road and hit the gravel on the side in full skid. Ariel noticed Kevin sawing back and forth on the wheel trying to regain control of the vehicle.

A sudden thump sent Ariel flying into unconciousness.

Unshelved, a cartoon series about librarians, is featuing this in the comic strip starting on Novmeber 6.  I don't know if it is inspirational, but it is fun:

(The archives have the past strips so you can see the whole series.)

LOL. Thanks lovely lady.
It was fun but very challenging at times especially when you have a family to organise as well.
Now I'm in the midst of Nano withdrawal! I've already started another short novel! lol

Congratulations Susi!! That's really awesome news. I'm glad to hear that you made it! =) It takes a lot of dedication and perserverance to pull off NaNoWriMo. It's awesome that you were able to do it! =)

:pops head in through the door:

Someone told me "go see the writer's forum" so here I am... waves at the nice people

and what do you know, a thread about NaNoWriMo.  A few days late (doing justice to my last name, here) but just wanted to say congrats for making it through, Susi!  :)

I made it too.  tee hee!  50,002 words (the last two are..... drum roll..... "The End")   ROFL
Lord knows how I managed to pull through at the same time we were working nights and week-ends and.,.. pretty much in our sleep, too.

Apparently, there's a JanNoWriMo too. lol  I'll be starting at 12:01 on New Years. ;)

Hi Laetia,

First of all congrats on the finish! Nice to have a fellow render with me.
*SQ hands Laetia a huge bar of chocolate
*I'm giving the JaNoWriMo a miss. I have to organise the poetry book I am trying to get published.
I am still writing the November one, the characters just don't want to finish telling their tale and I have a few friends who are reading it as I finish each chapter who won't let me stop.... Grrrr. LoL
I know what you mean about working, living and writing at the same time. I am certifiably insane! LoL

@David, thanks. I just hope to put the same stubborn streak to work with my book!

Have a fantastic Christmas all. May all your stockings be filled with love, hope and happiness.

Hugs
Sue

Susi,
I wish I could go directly to the pc, don't pass go etc but my characters are old fashioned and make me sit down with the dreaded pen for ages then I have to put it all on to the pc from there, talk about sadistic little beasties!!

This NaNoWriMo is a bit like  a ramped up version of speed writing I did with songwriting lyrics that I used to do....my best was 8 songs (3 verses + chorus) in five minutes.  LOL it was fun. No preconcieved ideas. Titles were given at last minute and off we went. Sure got the creative juices going. jen
