Keep an eye out for this one, the Canon PowerShot G7. The full review at DPreview isn't out yet, but I'm now seriously considering this camera for street shooting...

The only drawback for me is this camera does not support RAW, but I can live with that. Most of my street shooting doesn't really require it.
EDIT: Here's some close-ups of it...
Yep, the G7 would be a good choice if RAW isn't an issue. Take a look at these sites and other and read the reviews of cameras you are interested in: www.dpreview.com www.stevesdigicams.com

The Lumix is a fine camera and boasts available 16:9 image recording, but some of the reviews I've read on it complain of noise; the camera does have on-board noise correction. The G7 also has noise issues, but not as severe as the Lumix per some reviews.
From DPreview: "Reviewing the LX2 - the successor to one of the only memorable compact cameras of 2005 - has been a slightly disappointing, yet totally unsurprising experience. Like the FZ50 reviewed last month, the LX2 is an 'upgrade' that fails to address in any convincing way the single glaring problem with its predecessor. Rather than going back to fundamentals and working on the weakest link in what is otherwise a very desirable camera - noise - Panasonic decided, presumably because the 'market' demands it, to add even more pixels and use the sledgehammer noise reduction of the Venus III processing engine. To be fair to Panasonic the output is an improvement over the LX1, though only by a narrow margins, and at anything over ISO 200 it's 'different' rather than 'better' (again, to be fair, it does produce better prints). Noise is measurably lower than most competitors, but the noise reduction artefacts and loss of fine low contrast detail are a heavy price to pay."

Thanks for the answer. It becoming hard to choose .the more i am searching on internet or in the stores .the more i see the pro and the con of different models
When i see the review below on Lx2 overall it was good.i see this morning a comparaison images test below 200 iso between G7 and LX2 ..and Lx2 seems to me better
But the list prices of these compacts aren't so far reflex like Pentax 100d or ony alpha
Anyway neither G7 or Lx2 aren't arrive in the stores here .One say me that they will receive them next week.I will see and touch them
Ps excuse my bad english .i am a french speaking person
That review of the LX2 is more positive than some I have read. I have that 10MP sensor in my fz50 and it too suffers from noise when viewed full size even at low ISOs. Still, the overall image is very pleasing.
