Hey guys. This is my first post here, and I want to thank everybody who´ve checked out and commented on my pictures.

An now to the point. I'm gonna get the Canon EOS 400D in about 3 months, and I ran into this:

Is this site trustworthy? It seems suspiciously inexpensive :P.

Also, what can you tell me about this lense that comes with it?

I´m new to SLR cameras so I don´t know a great deal about lenses and all that stuff.

Any recommendations for sites? I´m pretty much forced to order online, as cameras ar so expensive here. E.g. the EOS400d body alone costs around $1350-1400, and that´s just crazy.

be carefull of ordering online you might get landed with import duties (if i remember you are from iceland no?)... best to check on that.  otherwise try eBay - some of the hong kong suppliers are ok in my experience (and they put "gift" or "refurbished second hand product" on the parcel to skip customs duties )

Yeah, I´m from Iceland, and we have 24.5% tax on imported products. I´m gonna check into that, thanks :).

Be wary of some of the far east suppliers....many of the items, including high end cams are "knock offs"....fake reproductions. 

In your case it might be worth a trip to the US or Canada...the price difference on your cam might almost pay for your trip!....but then you will have warranty issues so, I guess you can't win...LOL!

John is actually making a great point there. I remember when i had ordered the 18-200mm VR for my cam.....and how i 6 months later was starting to get desperate for not getting it yet, so i was thinking i´d order it from the US so i started looking into taxes and custom duties and what not.....and found that it would actually be cheaper for me to fly to New York....buy the lense myself and fly back. And that was just for a lense. Is Iceland part of EU btw? If so then you have no customs fee or taxes for purchases within the european union. 

That is an incredible site Joe. Unbelievable prices and is it in US dollars?Also did it take long for you to receive your purchase?

Andreas is right - Icelend is not part of the EU. So if you orderf rom an EU country they shouzld take the VAT (value added tax) off for you  - your own customs will of course add the 24.5%

Alternatively - travel to an EU country, buy the cam, claim the VAT back (they will credit your bank account) and do not tell Icelandic customs that the cam is imported when you get home (NAUGHTY!)
