This weekend marks the end of the Dystopia City Blocks here at Renderosity and at Content Paradise.

We would like to thank all the staff here for hosting this product series and we are specially grateful to all the many artists who have created new worlds of adventure with these city blocks.

Cheers! — Möe

Does this mean that they're only going to be available from your own site for now ?

Not at all.

Our team-dystopia website is purely a promotional site for all our different projects. We provide links to the various product pages found at different sites. We don't broker our own products.

All the best, I used some of the freebie versions from early days.

Ok, I'll keep my eyes peeled for either an announcement as to where they're avavilable or updates to your product pages for links.

I wish you had let us know they would not be available anymore.  I have two sets and would have bought more if I had known they were going to pulled from the market.  I never saw blocks 90 to 100 available for Poser.

There was also mention of native Vue versions and upgraded Poser versions to take advantage of P6's material room, so I suspect that they're going to reappear somewhere else, but that Möe doesn't want to (or can't) say where yet.

Great work Moe!

Good luck with your future projects!!

Dave-So ( ) posted Sun, 12 November 2006 at 5:27 PM

well this surely sucks the big one. I didn't realize the end meant THE END. The previous post I thought  just referred to the fact you finally hit 90-100.

I was still eyeing them up, but haven't had the cash flow to buy them yet. I just put my wife up for sale yesterday....damn..it looks like it may take a few days to finalize the deal

There was a post here a bit ago saying that they would be getting rid of the older version but I suspect that they will appear someplace.

Moebius87 ( ) posted Mon, 13 November 2006 at 1:11 AM

Thank you all for your continued interest and support for the Dystopia City Blocks series.

Yes, nruddock is correct. Dystopia will be making a reappearance again, but at this point we are not at liberty to disclose where they will be going. The native LWO versions will be reappearing, as well as the new and improved Poser version — featuring improved materials support. We have decided to discontinue the 3DS and the OBJ versions.

There are other versions currently in development, but due our non-disclosure agreements we can only hint that we will be supporting at least two other application formats.

We should have more news about the future of Dystopia in the next 24 hours.

That's good news!  Sure hope a Vue version is in the works - just spent about 6 hours yesterday importing models from Poser to Vue.

Although my budget priorities are for human figures, I've had my eye on the Dystopia Blocks ever since I used the old freebie versions for Poser 4 (the ones with MAT poses).  I really like the way those turned out in my early renders.  It's good news indeed that there will be a Poser6 series, which can use the Materials Room function to change the look from day to night (or so I read somewhere).  I should be thinking about buying the new P6 versions, when they are released, so do kindly keep us posted, please.

i was just about ready to cry reading the beginning of this thread.  well, not really, but i was terribly, terribly disappointed.  the dystopian sets were these great products i could never afford but always knew i could buy.  so relieved they will be returning!  cool!  ok, i still need to budget for them, and i don't have renders planned for them, but i'll work on that and wait for news.  looking forward to future developments!

Sorry... had to do the day job thing.  :tongue2:

Looks like things are running a bit behind schedule, but it could be that I miscalculated due to a time zone thing. I'm still expecting some news that I can share with all of you very soon.

You folks will the be the second to know... "me" being among the first to know.

Well, it was a surprise.  Didn't expect them to move to Daz, but it's very cool to see them available again.

To anybody who bought our City Blocks before and is worried about an upgrade to the new versions, don't be.  You'll get all the new material options, the new randomisation python script, the skydome, new light sets etc when you download the updated free city blocks from DAZ.

The only thing you'll be missing out on is the revised meshes which have had the window lights layer removed to improve performance of raytraced shadows.  If you want to strip those excess bits of mesh out of your old city blocks, you'll be able to do it with a special python script that I'll release as a freebie within the next couple of weeks.

By the way, that image in my last post is from city blocks 051-060.  It shows the new sky dome in action in Poser 6, complete with the water plane.

Keep an eye on DAZ through the week for more city blocks.

Thanks Ajax - you read my mind! Best of luck at DAZ; these are terrific products that are well worth the money. I'll be looking out for the new sets :) Off to get my free blocks for the new stuff...

Dave-So ( ) posted Tue, 14 November 2006 at 3:59 PM

good luck at DAZ..that is awesome news. To be straight, I used to buy a lot from here, but most of my money goes over there...so you should be getting mine soon :)

actually, daz is where i expected to move (bryce being the hot topic).

now i can hate and love you all just like i do stonemason (see kmwill's posts on this matter for clarification).

and you both have items on sale now.  and the rdna sale is on.  and v4 is due. and poser 7. and vue 6. you are all pure evil.  i think my head is going to explode.

anyway, i wish you guys luck and prosperity, and i hope the partnership with daz goes well!

Sorry to see this going to DAZ, a sad day for us who do prefer not to buy there.

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....
