THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce 6 download question

Ang25 ( ) posted Wed, 15 November 2006 at 5:20 PM · edited Sun, 16 February 2025 at 9:05 PM

Hi all,

I'm in the midst of downloading Bryce 6. its pure hell on dial up. My question is Do I have to download each and every of the zillion things that say Bryce 6? (for pc) are they all pieces of the whole? theres preset 1, preset 2, etc contents 1 contents 2 etc. Its driving me crazy cause its gonna take me weeks to download all of these.

Ok, thanks in advance!

Angela

Some people have been havng problems with Bryce starting up if the presets have not been installed. It could be because those directories are not there until the presets are installed.

Sorry. ;o(

But, worth a try to start up Bryce without the presest installed.

Uh which thing is Bryce 6 then? I started at the top and figure to work my way down the list.

and thanks for the instantaneous answer, I was just coming back in to add that its about the same as waiting for Bryce to render, and you'd already answered, LOL

It does work without presets installed, but you can't do much without older scenes or B6-scenes that have been downloaded. You have to stay away from mats, atmospheres and pretty much everything else or it will result in a program crash.

As I went down the list of downloads I think I've answered my question about which one is the actual bryce program. (LOL says Application).

Looks like its gonna take me a long time to get there sigh

AgentSmith ( ) posted Wed, 15 November 2006 at 6:04 PM

Cool, yeah mine was named "br_ap006_Br6_App.exe".

Patience. Just pretend you are rendering, lol.

Hi again,

Got another dumb question. Since this is a download I don't have any instructions to read. So, does it matter which order I open the parts in?

Thanks, (almost done downloading, might be finished by tomorrow morning LOL)

I'd do the Bryce App first if I were you...after that it doesn't matter....

Ok, But do I have to open all of them for Bryce to work, I thought I heard something about it not working right if the presets weren't open or in it or something like that?

Incarnadine ( ) posted Fri, 17 November 2006 at 9:49 PM

Attaching to this as I am gonna need to know too - downloading (dial-up too) as we speak. I am gonna have my hands full for sure ov,er the next while - Cinema4D R10/AR/Pyrocluster/BodyPaint/Hair, Bryce 6 and year-end silly season at work.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sat, 18 November 2006 at 2:25 AM

Rochr said his would not work until he installed the presets. I'm betting that is true for those that do not install over Bryce 5.x but install into a new directory, and probably the Bryce 6 install may not create the preset folders, thus Bryce wigs out.

Just guessing.

ok, I'm blonde, bear or bare with me. What is involved with "Installing" the presets? Does this mean more than just opening them?
But on the positive side WOOHOO! i've got all the pieces on my harddrive. Now comes the fun part of opening the presents! Yippie! But Breakfast first.

It's just that, installing. Running those installers like you run the Bryce app one :)

:D Ok now I just have to wait till I get home from work. I got everything downloaded, everything installed, and I ran out of time (had to go to work), didn't get to put in my serial number (I forgot to get it before I logged off the internet). But the interface looked like a pretty color scheme.

Ray, sometime you should log into Yahoo, then we can chat. Hope that things have been going well for you. Hope your schooling is going well. My daughter is going to India for a semester of college she leaves in January. Talk about a mom being a nervous wreck.

Hopefully, I'll be trying out Bryce 6 in 3 more hours !!

Yea i know but my laptops wireless drivers are no where to be found and my dads pc blocks y! messenger :( and at work i'm far too busy to have too many messengers on and my boss is gunna get mad if i introduce a new messenger to the workfloor for the interns to waste valuable time with :tongue1: but i'll try to figure somethin out...
School is going real slow for me. i cant start my finals without fixing a few old grades but teachers are being tremendously slow at rating my work or even supplying me with assignments. like one subject i've been trying to receive an assignment for for a quarter of the schoolyear already! I'm trying to get a hold of an updated grades list for over a month now. One teacher rated an assingment for me, rated it to be good enough to pass the subject, but then he didnt know WHICH subject it was from çuz the subjects ahve all changed names over the years! Getting my assignments makes claiming tax returns look easy!

Yeah sounds like school is a real hassle. Its not as bad over here, but listening to my daughter tell me about all the things she has to do it makes me wonder how these kids do it. Actually, it explains why almost every year at the college they lose a few kids to suicide. Its terrible.

Ok on to happier news. I've played with my Bryce. Took me a while to find where the cool new features are located and its left me with more questions. Well one for now. I've found where you load the hdri into bryce, but are there no presets for this? Do I have to go out and find or make my own?

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sun, 19 November 2006 at 6:59 AM

In the forum header "HDRI's for Bryce 6". Lots of links for that stuff.

But, the best, first link-Ready to use HDRI's;

Got the app and contents/presets down, now to tackle the freebies!

Ang25 ( ) posted Thu, 23 November 2006 at 8:53 AM

I didn't have enough time to get all the freebies, but some are still good till the end of the month.
I figured out how to do the collapse mesh thing, but so far I'm lost on to how to do the HDRI, I didn't see any tuts for absolute morons. Although I'm sure there must be one out there. If someone could point me to one that says :

  1. in the HDRI window, click browse
  2. then do etc etc
That would really help me out a lot. and when I save a HDRI (the spherical ones) where do I save them, is there a presets library for them or do I just store them any ole place on my harddrive?
    Thanks

Incarnadine ( ) posted Thu, 23 November 2006 at 8:37 PM

If you contact Daz they can reset the timmer on the expired. I had to get them to do that for me once.

What I'd really like is a way to take all the mac offerings off my list. Its so hard sorting thru all them. Even if they would just list them all before or all after would've been nice. Oh well, its free, so I shouldn't complain, lol.
And of course if I wasn't on dialup then I wouldn't even have an issue.
