Subject: tool question: magnet mode

there is a mode (tool) in blender which has confused me for a while but which seems to have insane possibilities.  the socalled magnet mode which when pressed effects verticies sourounding the selected verticy an amount which can be set to falloff or all the same amount.  this tool works by exerting a pull on all verticies within a certain distance from the selected one,  this distance can be seen when moving the verticiy as a circle representing its sphere of influence,  i know that in other programs the sphere of influences's size can be changed.  does anybody know how to change the spere of influence's size in blender?

Scroll wheel, up is smaller down is bigger (I think), and maybe also the same set of keys that allow you to zoom in and out if you don't have a scroll wheel.
I love that tool, I use it all the time :)
