Subject: Copy & Paste

Anniebel ( ) posted Wed, 22 November 2006 at 12:35 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 12:43 PM

Just wondering if you know, that since the HTML upgrade copy & paste no longer works in the dialogue box.

At least for me anyway - I am using IE6.0.29 (& no I don't want to change even if the others are supposedly better 😉)

The only way to copy & paste now is to switch to source - paste & then switch back & format - which can be time consuming if it is a large body of text.

Thanks

Hmm. Using IE6.0.29 / WinXP Pro SP2, and copy/paste works fine on my end. And yes, I cleared the cache as instructed.
So it's not just the settings of FCKEditor.

I cleared my cache too, but definately doesn't work for me.

The copy & paste buttons in the box don't even work either.

P.S. I have Windows XP Home with all the relevant updates installed.

I have the same problem as Anniebel and I tryed everything....
I have IE6, I did empty cash but for some unknown reason it's impossible to copy/past the message. I have to write every word manually and there're big gaps between the lines that are out of control...!

Which way are you copying and pasting?  Right clicking, or using the CTRL-C option?

Wow the copy and paste works good and it even copied the bold and color from the post above.
I can use the keyboard or right click on the mouse and both ways work or work just great with Firefox 1.5.

( I'm writing this manually. It's imposible for me to copy/past my replay in this window!)

Hi Jen, :)
I was trying both way:
-copy the whole text from my NoteTab by right clicking and past it also by right clicking,
-copy my text from NoteTab by CTRL-C and past it by CTRL-V.
...and nothing works.

I guess these 're usual methods all over the world when it comes to copy/past text.
If there's a third way to do it, please enlighten me and I'll try your method with pleasure. It's PITA to write manualy once again long text/URL's and do it right, specially when I have very often big problem with my eyes (I have so called "dubble vision" in my right eye).

I have some IM's waiting for answers but it's impossible for me to answer them under such circumstances - what's more I know I'm not alone after talking to some of my friends here.
I only hope you find what's going on pretty soon and wish you Good Luck!!!!!!

Hi,
If you want to verify that you have successfully copied something in a MS Windows XP system use the ClipBook Viewer that is included in sp1 & sp2.
 Usually found here: C:WINDOWS/system32/clipbrd.exe .
You may need to have the ' Show hidden files and folders ' option enabled in the View tab of Folder Options.  Folder Options is accessable through Control Panel or an open Explorer window in the Tools drop-down menu.

I should clarify, it is paste that doesn't work, the info is copied to the clipboard, but will not paste into the dialogue box by any means I have.

I have used Crl-C / Crl-V - doesn't work

I have used Edit>Copy / Edit>Paste IE funtions - doesn't work

I have used the copy & paste buttons situated at the top of this dialogue box - doesn't work

The text will paste in other programmes, just not this dialogue box, unless you switch to source.

Thanks, because it is very frustrating.

It works in the older style dialogue boxes, like when you upload to the marketplace or freebies.

It also works in the gallery section, just not here.

Seems to work for me, no matter what method I use.  On I.E. 6 here at work.  WOrks fine in I.E. 7 at home, too.

Yes, of course, you can't past the long text without highlighting it first under copying.

What do you mean by "highlighting it right"?
Is it possible to do it the wrong way?  Would you be so kind and explain it to me so may be I'll try your way!
I'm soooo desperate that I'll try anything...LOL...

PS I use IE6 with updates!!!
I tryed Mozilla two years ago, didn't like it and uninstalled it almost at once.

Jumpstartme2 ( ) posted Wed, 29 November 2006 at 4:43 PM

LOL! Ok, I just wanted to cover all bases and make sure you were highlighting it first. ;)
Like I said, I tried it in IE6 and Firefox 2.0 and it worked fine from here...its got to be in the IE settings somewhere is all I can think of..but I reported it so hopefully the programmers can get to it soon.

Also, I noticed you said "IM's"...can you copy/paste here in the forum thread or no?

What's more I also forgot to say big thank you for your interest in this issue and helping hand in resolving my problem!!!!!!!!!!!  (now I'm shouting....LOL....)

Wow hoo, I have fixed it.

Something in the change has triggered IE's scripting security.

I was browsing through my security setting (which I haven't changed until now) here -

Tools>Internet Options - Security Tab / Custom Level button

Scroll down to scripting & the heading is..  Allow paste operations via script

I have always had this set to the default - disable, but have changed it just now to prompt & now I can paste again.

It was my I.E. settings too that were set up as you discribed. I changed my settings to what you recomended and now I can copy/past without any problems at all.

Just to show you that it really works I'm going to copy and past the whole "Harry Potter" book no3 here in my next post....

Again, thanks a lot Anniebel for resolving my problem and **Jumpstart ** for just being here patiently listening to all my yellings!!!!!!!!!!!  (shouting happy again... :tongue2: ...!)

I am just happy it works as well, I didn't think to look at my security setting before.

Don't know why it worked before & not now though, I am not really up on scripting etc, just basic HTML
