The "ground" won't show up in a render, you will need to use some kind of "floor" prop. You could use a square primitive with a texture or most building type props have a floor prop included, check the free stuff area and do a search for "mapps" he has some indoor scenes with floor props available!
Shadows will only show up if you have them selected in the render options!

You can make the floor visible in the materialroom. You choose the GROUND-object in the propslist and uncheck the "shadwow-catch only" option in the materiallist. You can also change the materialproperties of the floor. You don't need an extra prop for the floor!
-How can you improve things when you don't make mistakes?
Add to that, that if you're not seeing any shadows on the (invisible, shadow only) floor, it's because you're rendering at the default draft setting. That one does not have any shadows enabled. Crank it up a notch or two and you'll see the shadows :)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

Hello everyone. I'm clearly doing something wrong in Poser 6. The floor never shows up in my rendering and hence the shadows cast by the figures in it are omitted.
I have the "ground" checked on for "visible." But I never see anything. I tried to map a carpet texture to it as well, to make the scene look more natural, but that did not show up either.
I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I've had no problems mapping textures to clothing, figures, objects, etc. But the ground just isn't working the way I thought it did. Help? :)
