Yes - I noticed that immediately - but then I suppose anyone can copy and paste an image from the galleries here with just a right click - I personally don't mind people using my images as desktop wallpaper, but I would appreciate a request for permission for any other usage!
Well..... Mr gdmora is going to have a big suprise when he reads the front page. I posted my comment, so now he has 3 on the front page where everyone can see. Don't forget if he deletes the comment, to keep reposting, the worst that could happen is that we get banned from that site. This will prove that the site doesn't care what is posted there.

Yeah - I'll do that - wouldn't want him to get out of that one, would we?!
I can see why he stole your work, that image on the front page is wonderful! I'm ganna have to check out your work for myself! Don't worry I wont post it anywhere!!! LOL I don't know why he chose the image of mine that he did???? It has to be one of the worse one's that I have posted, if he was going to steal one, why not get one that looked better than that one!!! LOL Did you copy and paste you comment in "notepad"? This way if you have to post it again, you can c&p it right out of the notepad and wont have to rewrite it all over. I do think that I will post my comment every day for that image whether he deletes the comments or not. This will keep it on the front page for all to see (EVERY DAY). ROFLMAO!!!!!

Did you mean my Fairy Flowers pic?
If so, thanks - I didn't get back to the frontpage fast enough to see yours, it seems - all those images have gone off the front page, and I think mine has indeed been deleted, since a search for my name, or the title, no longer comes up with anything!! Of course he may have renamed it.............................
I may just take a stroll over to your gallery, too, when I have some time :)
I didn't think of copying my comment to notepad, but then it looks as though I didn't have to - I certainly can't face searching through all those web pages looking for my images, lol!!
Hope that's the last we hear of gdmora!

Addendum: It would be funny if it wouldn't be so sad: they stole one of mine off of a webpage that already stole it BEFORE...and it still has the first thieves sig on it.
That is sad!! Why do people do that?!
Beats me if I'd know that....shortcut to Fame, laziness, stupidity?

ok I called DomainDiscover

they do not have that site. it is through go daddy. NOT domain discover.
so now for me to get their information..this is worse then tracking a rabbit through a hayfield!
https://www.darkelegance.co.uk/
I was just over there checking on things when I got the email that you had responded to the forum, I couldn't find any images listed for gdmora at all!!! I don't know if he pulled them off or if the site pulled them. Mean while I found some more images that belonged to someone else and I wrote them about it, I also checked to see if their images were still listed and those images are gone too! From time to time this may happen again, that is why I keep a copy of my comments that I post (like what I used today) and a copy that I send to site admins. filed in my documents folder, so when I need them all I have to do is copy & paste them and it does save a lot of rewriting time.
ok go daddy is the place to go!!

It is good to see our members there and leaving comments (vlaaitje). This seems to be an effective way to get the word out. I would suggest including a Spanish translation in addition to the English one. I posted a variation of the cease and desist letter and suddenly cannot navigate around the site anymore. Do you think that maybe I've lost my treasured membership to XWall??? :)

Nahhhh, why would they..... ;)
I do have noticed that they take down comments that point out the infrigement, though.

This is the first time my image (maybe more than one - who knows?) has been stolen as far as I know - only been posting for a couple of months and it hadn't even occurred to me that someone might lift one of my images and upload it elsewhere!! I'll know better in future and keep copies of anything like that I make replies to - thanks for the hints!! Hope it doesn't happen too often, tho' (but then, don't think most of my art would be worth stealing anyway, lol!!)

Yippee - looks like we did it - definitely warrants a small 'hooray' I'd say!!

I think you may be right there, about your XWall membership, lol!! What a tragic loss :)
Quote - ack I hadnt thought of this...has anyone posted this to DA or epi?
Checking right now if there's already a thread about it, if not, I will.
I've found Blackeri on the Xwall page, Blackhearted....and so on and so forth. And everytime I check back there are more new images uploaded ;(
Btw, Domaindiscover already replied to my first C&D letter, very quickly, very politely and all that ;)
I have been looking through Xwall and I bet that this "borrowed" image thing may be bigger than we think! There are several artists there that seem to have a super talent in just about every postable form of art. I noticed the same thing with gdmora's gallery, it seemed to be full of many different styles of images. I may be wrong, but I think that this site should be monitored very closely. It may be full of "borrowed" images!!!!
Thanks CBL. Language barrier aside, I get the idea that the whole purpose of the site is to post art you like from across the internet. I honestly don't know if the original artists post there. I did notice Boris' 300+ images are gone, heheh.

Kort, that's what I've been telling all along: On the first opening page, you can read: Area Usuarios Recopilaci de las mejores imenes que existen en Internet. Como usuario podr enviar postales, publicar comentarios, subir tus imenes preferidas de Internet y tener una galer personal. Translated: User Section Compilation of the best images that exist on the Internet. As user you can send mails, publish comments, post your favorite images from the Internet and keep a personal gallery. There, just like that..! So where does that leave the xwall site where copyrights are concerned..?????

Thank You twopynts! I've never been in a forum before. I am appalled at this! If I want to save a picture for two days until my grand daughter comes over I ask permission! I Bravo to you all for defending yourselves and each other! I think mermaid deserves a medal of excellence! Her diligent ferreting found over a hundred stolen images! I'm glad to be a part of a community where most people are so willing to help each other.
Well I just found out about my image " Grief " ( for my husband ). Besides the annoyance I am really stunned that someone would steal an image that I dedicated to my husband who was ill at the time. That is remorselessly tacky in my opinion. I feel badly for all the artists who have had work stolen. Some of them , like RGUS and Rayburg have had so many stolen it boggles the mind.
Like I said before it appears that Xwall condones the actions....so....although many current Rendo artist works have been removed....they are bound to be back there in the future.
Is there any official notice from Xwall on their site regarding what happened?
Have the two (so far) culprits been spanked by Xwall?
Has rendo made a statement yet on this matter?
In youth, we learn....with age, we understand.
Well, so much for having m images removed.
I was told by GoDaddy:

Needless to say I am not happy at all.
O.o I just recieved an email from godaddy asking for all pertinent information so they may handle it......
how...odd. and right after I contacted them my work was removed.
the other one listed(the other phone and such) told me they didn't have xwall that it was go daddy.
O.o how...bizarre....
and it is waaaaaaaaaaay more then gdmora and such. I literally cant list all the links to rendo, epi, and DA work. literally their whole site is ripped.

Weird thing also is, I just noticed that my images are gone, too. So anybody had been saying something....but I'd also appreciated it if that whole thieving page would have been closed down. nod
@BrokenAngel9.....The galleries of two rip uploaders were "emptied".... so....that may explain why your images are no longer there. Don't know who "emptied" them.
BUT....that doesn't mean that Rendo rips are no longer up there......there are many many other galleries.....your images may just now be in someone else's gallery......if not today, perhaps tomorrow....

While I in no way condone what has been happening here and believe that copyright protection is very important, I would like to inject a perspective that has not been mentioned or addressed in the 9 pages of this thread:Why did you post your images without an embedded, impossible to remove copyright notice?
While you own the copyright of all original work without question, once that work has been "published" you are required to register it and include a copyright notice on the work.
If you do not believe that the work has, or will ever have, pecuniary value and are merely publishing it for others to appreciate, then you are, in a way, culpable of relinquishing your rights if you do not include a copyright notice. Whereas, in actuality, you still retain those rights, it is somewhat more difficult to recoup moneys for illegal use.
Without putting too fine a line on it, as I am not totally versed in copyright law, common sense should tell you that anything that can be stolen, can be stolen. It is not up to Renderosity to put a copyright notice on works you post here as they are your works, not Rendos. If you are comfortable posting without protection and only want others to share your works, then you should also be comfortable if your works are "shared" worldwide.
If this is not something you can be happy about, then put a copyright notice right across the most complicated portions of your image so that it is extremely time consuming for someone to clone stamp it out. While this is not a total solution, it will stop the vast majority of petty copy & paste reuse.
You can use a white text layer with black drop shadow in photoshop, with the transparency set to a value that is visible but not obtrusive to create the copyright notice and then merge the layers so that it is an integral part of the image. Please see the link for examples.
For even better protection on works that you would like to sell, embed a digital watermark through a service like digimarc in addition to the copyright notice.
I truly hope everyone whose work has been involved in this illegal transfer has a satisfactory resolution to this problem.

Interesting. I don't have a clear understanding of copyright law either, but are you saying that simply placing "Copyright 2006 insert name here" is invalid unless the image is properly copyrighted by registering with whatever government office? I was under the impression that if you created it, you held copyight by simple ownership. I guess I'll have to re-read the DMCA.
I looked at your example photograph, and while the copyright notice is fairly transparent, to me it distracts from the overall quality of the photo. It pretty much defeats the presentational efforts of those who create artwork or photographs. With that said, I also understand this may be the only way to cut down on art ripping...if it is indeed art ripping based on your quoted text in my reply.
Regards...
EDIT: Yes, you're quite correct, your work must be registered with the U.S. Copyright Office prior to lawsuit of infringement for U.S. citizens, but many foreign works are exempt to comply with existing treaty obligations held under the Berne Convention. See page 3...
