Subject: Control dial issue (movement visible in P4 but not P6)

bazze ( ) posted Tue, 12 December 2006 at 8:29 AM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 8:52 PM

I’m finishing up a posable car and have grouped all the control dials to one part of the car.

Everything works fine except one thing:

When sliding the control dial controlling for example one of the doors nothing happens but when I release the dial the door snaps into the correct position.

This only happens in Poser6. In Poser4 you can see the door moving while sliding the control dial.

Any idea what causes this and how to fix it? I have modeled and rigged 10-15 poser models before without encountering this issue.

Thanks!

Test something out....
Save the figure in poser 6 library to generate a poser 6 cr2, open a new empty scene and load this Figure you just saved and see if it behaves better.
I suspect there is something missing in the cr2 that poser 6 needs and maybe letting poser 6 save its own version will fix it.
If it works, compare the two files to see what it was that got added.
Remove each item that got added and see what minimum you can keep in for it to continue working in poser 6... then you will have isolated what the problem was.
Let us know if this results in anything :)

nope.. that didn't do it. I guess Poser6 behaves in this way when operating high poly objects.

It happend when EF released SR1 for P6. Before a non existing hidden statement was interpreted as hidden 0 (visible) Since SR1 itis interpreted as hidden 1 (invisible). Check your CR2 and either change the hidden statement or implement the hidden 0.

Im not sure that I understand.

For examlpe:
The door parts is visible but hidden is set to "1" because it shouldn be possible to select it indivudually by moving the mouse over the objec in the viewpoint.

The movement of the door is however not visible while moving the control dial connected to the door but the door snaps into the correct position when you release the control dial.

Do you mean that there is a "hidden" statement for the movement action itself?

Sorry, seems to be a misunderstanding from my side. I understood that the dials are not visible in P6.
