Subject: Vue 5 Easel

Ok, had the Christmas party at work last night and my secret Santa got me Vue 5 Easel!  First I've heard of it, but, WOW!!  How cool! :woot:

It kinda has a Bryce feel with the layout of it and I've done some basic renders that have really come out looking cool!

Anyway, has anyone used this with Poser?  You can import pz files and I've tried, but, all I get is a big blank model with nothing...not even eyes.  Anyone know what's up?

And one last thing, how far off is it from the Pro or Infinite versions.  I had already made my mind up to get Vue 6 and my Santa must sit close to me and over heard a phone call with a friend one afternoon...it's just too strange of a co-inky-dink for a gift.

I have Vue 5, both easel and Infinite (I bought easel, and Infinite came free with Lightwave).
Easel has basic abilities (it's basically an entry-level version of Vue). Material editing is limited, and you can't ewdit plants or  do ecosystems.
BUT
easel can open any models, files, scenes, etc made with espirit and Infinite.. So, although you cannot edit plants, you can load someone else's edited plants. and although you cannot do complex materials, you can load someone else's complex materials. So you can use almost all of the Vue 5 freebies and sale items, including most of what they sell at cornucopia (IIRC, registering it will get you a free voucher for the cornucopia store).

I have Vue 5 Easel, too and it's a neat program, it has it's limits, but import Poser to it is great.  It took some getting used to for me, but very experimental.

To  BAR-CODE: Have you tried Vue 6 Easel?  I been seeing the previews and had been amazed at what you can do with clouds, HDRI, AO and such.

Happy Holidays to All,

JB

Yes i did upgrade to Vue easel 6 ..and it has so much more editeble things ...
When you have 5esl version 6 is a ton more value when upgrading..
And to be honnest i can find a direct point to say get the bigger versions.
When your not going 100% into Vue Easel 6 is more then enough....

Hrmm... I may have to consider upgrading my Vue 5 Easel if it's as good as you say BC.

Upgrade that Vue 5 Easel to Vue 6, Vue 6 can read Poser shader nodes! =D bB

I just slimmed for an answer to your question, and did'nt see one, but yes Vue Easel imports .PZ3 files.

There is a page at e-onsoftware somewhere that compares all of the function of Vue Easel, Vue4, Vue5, and Vue 6, in a spreadsheet.

Cool Christmas Present!
