The release date for Bryce 6.1 (fixes/patches/etc.) has been pushed back 2-3 months.
It was originally scheduled/discussed for the end of the year (like today!), but a post was made just today in the DAZ/Bryce forum that the date was changed.

I've been waiting many weeks for this update and am disapointed that the announcement of the change in release date was not made sooner (I would have moved on to other projects!).

I do  lot of rendering to disk and the current version does not use dual-core-cpu for that function, so rendering to a file takes twice as long as rendering to screen. Was really looking for a fix to that.

Other opinions???

I'm rather disappointed too, but I've waited years for a new Bryce dreading that no one would take up the task to save Bryce. I think I could wait a little bit longer for DAZ to fix things. It's not an easy process to fix software bugs, especially if the code isn't completely all yours, but been bought from someone else. What I do hope is that what is released will be all these fixes we've all been complaining about and that the new release date will be the actual release date.

Come on DAZ! We be waiting!

The 6.1 update, when it comes out, will make or break Bryce IMO. It just needs to catch up to todays market, even if they raised the price and put GI in it, middle mouse button support, better GUI(like Labs that scale to screen, not 640x480) etc... Im not trying to be negative, but I don't know many with the time to wait.

Am I the only one that actually likes B6 ? I like it , warts and all. This may be because I have a couple of dual dual core Xeon machines and I like the multi-threading capabilities(which are very good), this  is very nice to have, it renders very fast on my boxes. I think the skylab is vastly improved. The crashes are annoying in the extreme,........on that I will agree. But there are ways to workaround these. The HDRI  utility leaves a bit to be desired, but it is a start. As has been said,.........we waited a long, long time for B6, I can wait another few months for 6.1,.........I don't like it, but I can live with it. So long as Daz follows through on their promises, I say Bravo ! We'll see on Daz's commitment to this app, which has been languishing in 3D hell for a long time. If they continue with the upgrading to bring Bryce up to the level of Vue 6 and Carara, B7 should be a major leap. We'll see.

Sackrat! You're not the only one. I like B6 a whole lot. Like it for the same reason you mentioned. I have two dual core machines and it's nice to see the performance. Most of my work continues to be in B5, because I like how easy it is to toggle full screen with that, something I haven't found how to do in B6 yet. (if anyone finds out, please let me know).

  The only thing I have to really complain about is the new Help. It's HTML, which is okay, but the Javascript DAZ is using uses a fancy tree to list topics. Everytime I access it, it tells me it it's got a problem--the exact message I don't remember, and B6 is installed at my desktop which I'm not able to access at the moment. The problem though is that it looks like it's trying to initialize a variable which hasn't been properly initialized or the code is failing to find it. Anyway, the work around would be to hunt for the proper HTML file, but the DAZ names for the files are cryptic names. So slowly I've been converting the files to pure HTML, which is a pain b/c there's so much of them.

  Anyway, this part, I'm not happy about, because help should always be workable. A PDF file or pure HTML would've been the smart way to do it. Lowest Common Denominator for help would've been the best. Help should be helpful. But that's my only true gripe.

  But as far as the executable goes, I like B6. It has crashed on me, but I haven't lost work with it, and it's faster than the trusty B5, and it's got good features.
