Subject: Light Dots

Anyone think there is a chance Poser may include Light Dots, like they have for Pose, UI & Camera Dots?  I think that would come in VERY handy for me as I tweak my lights around trying to find the best angles.  It would also be great if all the Dot sets could be saved with the source file.

As I work with a scene, I am finding that sometimes there are several good angles that I could generate just from the one scene.  It would be a real plus for me to be able to save all the camera, pose and light sets in one file.  I could then go back later and re-render an image should I need to tweak it or something.  As it is now, I have 20 or 30 source files showing basically the same scene, just tweaked..... and I don't want to lose it.

Comments?  Hopes?  Answers?? :)

I use frames to do pretty much what your talking about here.

frame 1 can have everything in 1 spot, lights and cameras here and there. frame 2 can have different poses, different camera position, focus and perspective. different light positions etc.

you just need to get into the frame of mind of working in this way. if you add a light into frame 3, you will need to set that light to black from frame 1 and 2. I find it best when I'm working on a big scene to setup my basic 4 light setup, then add 5 inactive lights into the scene to be used later if need be.

the only drawback of this is that materials are not always animatable and therefore cannot be changed between frames. 90% of the settings can be made animatable though. generally this is something I dont want to have different between my saved "views" of the scene, but a global change (such as changing the skin etc)

hope this helps

That's a great idea!  I will have to give that one some thought.  I'm not animating materials, at least not currently.  That's a wonderful idea!  Thanks!!

just remember to add a key frame (the + button on the animation bar at the bottom of the window) this will ensure that every item in the scene has settings on that frame.

also, in the keframe editor it can be handy to everything to linear mode (highlight all the squares and choose linear from the top right (the orangey button)
