Subject: Changing UV Mapping Coordinates for an OBJ?

Does anyone know of a way to change the default UV mapping coordinates of an OBJ file (usually they're planar-mapped) to another kind of UV mapping? (sphere, box, etc?) I know there isn't a way to set the UV inside of Poser, but is there any outside utility that can change the coordinates the obj uses? Thanks, Nemo

There are a couple of utilities on the FunStuff pages that will allow you to alter the UV coordinates on an OBJ file. The ones I have tried are MapMagic and SuperMapper. I believe SuperMapper is listed as a UV mapper with multiple regions or something like that. I personally use the two of them together to create texture maps for objects I create. Hope that helps some .. . there are other utilities in Funstuff as well, but I haven't personally tried them, so I can't vouch for them. . . you might give them a go and see what you like.

Steve Cox's UVMapper will do what you want... I use it on every new figure/prop I build. Its a very nice utility. Get it here at his site.

Nemo, do try Steve Cox's UVMapper. I think you'll get some interesting results on your hair texture maps using his box or cylindrical mapping modes. And thanks for the inspiration on the transparent hair maps. Haven't got the hang of it yet but having fun playing with it. -floydd transhair01e.jpg
