I made a Norman helmet in C4D and imported it into Poser.

Ask Norman? :)

OK my best guess just by looking at your picture.
The crown ... Spherical on Y axis.
The reinforcing over the crown ... Cylindrical on X axis.
The rim Cylindrical on Y axis.

You either use Poser  materials to assigned material groups (surfaces in Lightwave) or you make a uv map .

Using UVMapper classic (free) i would use a cylinder mapping on the Y axis and adjust so the seam is at the back .

C4d should have its own UV map tools but UVMapper is very easy to use for simple objects .
