I just took delivery on a Dell Dimension 9200.  Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6600 (2.4 GHz).

All I can say is run the other direction!!! Run fast and far and don't look back!

Here is my experience with Dell:

My laptop motherboard failed after 18 months of use, 5 months after the hardware warranty ran out.  Long story but I didn't use it for the first couple of years.

I ordered a Dimension 9200 from them in January and it was delivered January 30th. The sales guy told me that they don't partition drives prior to shipment but that I could call tech support and they would walk me through the process.  So I did that on the 30th only to find myself in a 1 hour debate/argument with the tech and his supervisor about them claiming that they don't support partitioning and my insisting that they are going to because I was promised it.  Finally they relented only to find out that the CD ROM was a dud and it couldn't boot from the disk.  They reordered my system

I received the reship today only to find out that they installed the WRONG operating system!!!  I called to get help with the partition and of course I ended up speaking to someone else because at Dell you never talk to the same person twice!  I spent 90 minutes arguing with the tech and some "policy supervisor" who finally said that he would contact the tech who was helping me last week, along with his supervisor and get them to help me. Now whether that means they will walk me through reinstalling XP Pro and partitioning my drive or not, I don't know.

All I know is that I'm not at all impressed with Dell and my reservations about buying a Dell have been reinforced.

I recommend buying one locally or learning how to build a computer for yourself and not having to be a slave to a company who sells substandard equipment and gives really inconsistent and "shity" service to their customers.
