Subject: Reflection node's ray bias setting

What does the ray bias setting control? Can anyone explain it in terms of how it affects the rays or the final reflection? I was hoping they'd fix this in the P7 manual, but it's still missing. I have a mirror that a figure is looking into. The back and side of the figure is lit with a point light, and the reflected figure looks much darker than if I flip the camera around and render from the mirror's POV. Just trying to figure out how to get the reflection to be brighter. So far, changing the ray bias setting doesn't appear to affect anything that I can see in my test renders (1 ray bounce, which - according to the tool tip - is all it takes to do reflections). At the moment I'm rendering another test after turning the reflection value up to 1.25. Seems like that might work.
