Subject: weird P7 renders

Ok the one on the left is P7 - the right is the exact same P7 file opened in P6, then just hit render.

Anybody know why I'm getting that dusty artifacts?

Thanks!

I came, I rendered, I'm still broke.

I'm referring to the little speckles btw.

Looks like poke-through of the displacement map on the face.

I think P7 has a different way of interpreting displacement values,
but could be wrong.  Try turning down the displacement or bump value
on the skin?

way cool!   I turned it off as a test, all gone - now to tinker!
Thanks ockham!

any suggestions for the "right" settings or range?

I usually just drop the Bump Strength (or Displacement in this case) number by 1/3 or 1/2 when I have problems like that (mostly for me when I adjust a figure's scaling).

Just in case that isn't it, you can also try raising Pixel Samples; I have had similar speckles on some surfaces with certain shaders like the P6 fire shaders, and raising Pixel Samples to 10 or more fixed it.

Quote - any suggestions for the "right" settings or range?

For human skin, .002 - .007 has been a good range for me, up to .015 - .03 for lips and nipples.
