Subject: Problem using imported Poser animated file in a VUE 6 scene !

gilbabin ( ) posted Sat, 10 March 2007 at 12:21 PM · edited Wed, 06 November 2024 at 4:28 AM

I recently upgraded to the latest Vue 6 Infinite final release and tried to import a Poser 6 animated (300fr) scene with 3 characters (2 humans & 1 animal).

The import was OK and I had to modify some of the Poser materials because Poser bump-mapping doesn't work well in VUE when using Poser shader tree.
The problem occured when I saved my scene and reloaded it later : the Poser characters seemed to loose their animation (being freezed at starting frame).
If I re-import the Poser file, the animation is back, but I loose all the material changes !

I also encounter memory problems and Vue 6 may sometimes crash.
The Poser scene (as a pz3 file) is 24mb large and the Vue scene (without the Poser scene) is 15mb large.

My system runs Win XP with 2gb RAM.

So, 2 questions :

-Do you know why Poser UV bump-map doesn't work within Vue when using Poser shader tree ?

-What is the problem with Poser animated import when re-loading a previously saved Vue scene ?

Thanks for any answer  !

I also have your first problem with Bump maps, I suggest you raise a ticket, it might be a Vue fault but it could be a Poser fault, either way it is best to let tech support know so they can look into it!

The second problem I haven't seen, I use dynamic cloth a lot so have to import animations and haven't seen this problem, sorry!

Injustice will be avenged.

Thx for the answer !

The second problem occurs only with a multi-characters poser file (3 in this case).
I also used some dynamic clothed single character without problem...

I also tried without success to import  more than one  poser animated file : it seems that  only the latest retains its animation ... but I need to test more I suppose ?
