Photography F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 31 10:42 am)
It will completely depend on who you sell it/them to, and what it is you're selling.
There are a number of established portrait photographers around here that will charge you $100 for a 5x7 inch print, some smaller operations (out of their home businesses) that might charge $25, and some people who will sell them for $10 (mostly event shoots from weddings to car racing shots to fans).
Go around your area and find shows/displays/community events where they're selling photographs (I'm going to guess you're maybe selling landscapes and the like?) and get a feel for the going prices in the area.
You can always try to sell to stock agencies like picturestock.com and photos.com?
Good luck - hope that helps-

The eBay auction market will show what the general public is willing to pay for products.
Search for photographs and take note of the works that are similar to what you would sell.
I found that prints smaller than 8x10 went for $5 to $20 and larger than 8x10 were sold for about $20 to $35. YMMV.
When listing on eBay, it's probably a good idea to show only low res images; to put a visible watermark on the images; and/or to show some hi-res samples of small portions of each image. i.e. Don't give product away.
If you are going to offer large images for sale, you'll need a lot of pixels in the original image. e.g. A 13x19 print at 300 dpi would be a 22 mega pixel image.
You might be able to produce acceptable print quality at lower dpi, but you'll need to invest in an oversize printer and do a bit of testing -- or pay a professional lab to produce the test prints.

I have had some people say I should sell my pics, which brings me to ask how much would I charge for a print: EG: A4 size with cropping and a plain black border,as the only postwork .(no frame) On general Epson photo paper/or emailed. Could I get a general indication? I am in Australia so I deal in $Aus but can work out a conversion rate for $US if that is easier. thanks all.
