Okay, so does this CB Modeler program meet the approval of the cardinals? Can we start using it without guilt?

tom271 ( ) posted Sat, 31 March 2007 at 4:35 PM

well Bryce user always used other Apps from time to time...
So there would be no harm in" MY EYES" to use it...   but too much water in the Whiskey too often and you wind up with soda pop in your glass..   Is this what you are talking about....

Ooooh!  .obj for me!  Goody.  I have watched the progress of this expresso cup since you first began it, it's so nice to see it going through all the stages like this.  Do let us know when you start selling the real life object.

Has anyone had problems registering it? My browser just goes blank, and I haven't yet had an e-mail from them...

Death_at_Midnight ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2007 at 11:05 AM

No problems for me. I used my gmail account and within five minutes Google Talk reported the email had arrived. I just now checked it and it's there.

Strange that the browser goes blank. If you have a second browser try with that. I usually keep two on one machine incase one goes crazy. It worked fine with IE7 for me.

alexclark ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2007 at 4:47 PM

I use FireFox for everything, but I've tried it in IE6 and got the same. I contacted Dassault and they say they have no record of me trying to register either my name or e-mail, so I guess the submit button doesn't work for me. Could anything cause that?

Try un-installing FF and re-installing....   Also check option>privatecy tab> cookies..  make sure that site has not been added as "not allow"...  you could delete the cookies for that site, turn off FF and restart...  try reaching the site again...  sometime cookies get cooked....

If you have a virus program.. see if that site has been nixed somehow....  I had renderosity appear in the no login list....  I don't know how...    I thought I had a bug..  I could not log into Res....

What is the deal with the "Cardinal" references?

***"What is the deal with the "Cardinal" references?"

***Some 'round here say it's religious herecy to use anything other than Bryce, except for certain blessed exceptions (I think UV Mapper qualifies on heritage grounds). It is said that they are just joking, but they are really quite serious. These are the Cardinals. Or the Cardigans. Or the Jersey Royals. Or somesuch.

I get away with it because although I own Carrrara and Hexagon, I'm too busy and too stupid to actually learn to use them.

Hey has anyone tried that Art of Illusion here yet?
I d'led it from sourceforge.net but im afraid to install it.
Thought i d/l just for posterity it case it disappeared to lack of interest
kinda like 4DBlue

I'm not too sure if I want to install it either. Every time I use a complex Java application and leave it running for a long time, it gets slower and slower.

Has anyone notice that the forum link at CB Modeler goes to SolidWorks discussion forums?

I hadn't noticed, but SolidWorks and CB Modeler are from the same parent company.

But trust me, the user feel to SolidWorks is way different.

I got in on that trio of deals.  I had been looking for a mesh modeler.  Bryce and Carrara 3D Basics give me something to render them in.   This new app looks pretty good to me as well.

Here's an interesting tutorial...

And here's another interesting site, linked from the CB Modeler Pro site.. as some sort of official fan site. http://cbmodelprofans.blogspot.com/  I haven't explored everywhere in that link, but it does seem to have tutorials and stuff.

A Great tut on making a 'plane' out of a cylinder! I love that you can make the movie go to full screen also!
Thanks for the links!
