Hello Kett, That is unusual. I use point-at all the time in animations without any problem. Please clarify your statement, "Animated was checked." Do you mean the Animated checkbox in the Properties tray or do you mean that the object didn't follow in the animation? Also, if you can post a screen shot of your interface, it may help solve the problem faster. Mark
The "Follow" modifier points at the Hot Point of the object so I suspect the Hot Point for the figure doesn't move since this is an imported file. So, there are a couple of ways to fix this: 1) Change the Point-At modifier to track one of the articles of clothing on the figure, or 2) insert a Target Helper Object (THO) and animate it's movement to imitate the Figure, then use the Point-At on the THO.
There are a couple of ways to do this. The first way would be, from within Poser, add a ring to here finger. The ring will import as a prop and follow her movements. Then you could simply make the Particle Generator a Child of the ring. The second way is simply to Key Frame the motions of the particle generator to the hand. This will take a little more work than the first solution but is very do-able - especially if the particles are free, then minor variations in movement won't be noticed. Mark
Thank you Mark,
I did a simple test.
A sphere was created, and moving in Poser.
The animation was imported into Carrara.
I inserted carrara cube, and made it a child of the Poser sphere.
The cube did not follow the movement of the sphere in the animation.
It may not work for animation ?
Thank you Mike,
Would you explain how you did it?
Kett
At first it seemed that in this thread there were two issues:
I was addressing the first issue. The Track modifier will "track" the object as it moves, instead of "pointing" at it as the Point At modifier would do. You simply select Track from the same list that Point At is on and choose the object you want to track, that's pretty much it. It definately gives you different results than the Point At modifier.
Now as far as the second issue, I must agree with Mark that if you make the emmitter a child of any part of the character it will move with that part of the character. Something the folks confuse is Grouping and making Parent-to-Child hierarchies, because the set-up is so similar.
If you group (Edit>Group or Ctrl+G) an object with other objects that does not gurantee that they will move as desired. In order for this to work you must make the emitter a child of the hand, some part of the hand, or a prop on the hand. To make the emitter a child of the hand simply drag it onto the hand or prop object in the Instances tab of the Properties tray.
I have Poser 7 because I just go through writting an article on it. I dont think that Carrara 5 imports Poser 7 data, otherwise I would try it myself. Maybe you can post your exported Poser animation (the sample) in Carrara format, that way we can play with it.

I tried the point at Modifier. It does follows the object.
But It does not follow the object in the animation.
Animated was checked. Carrara5Pro
Thank you.
