Subject: Neebie Q: Appending pz3's?

LBT ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2007 at 10:58 AM · edited Thu, 30 January 2025 at 1:57 AM

Recently, I created an animation divided into two separate pz3's.  (I thought I was saving myself effort, but in the long run it looks like I may have scr*wed myself.)

Anyway, is there a way to append one pz3 onto another?  I tried opening the first file, positioning to the last frame,  and then importing the second.  All this accomplished was to turn the figures into two-headed, four-armed monsters.

Any ideas on how to combine these files into one?

Thanks for your help.

I don't know of a nice way to append....  I could write a Python script to do it,
but appending mechanically is just a little bit dangerous because there's
no guarantee that the same figures and props will be present in both
pieces.  (Even if figures seem to have the same name, that doesn't
necessarily mean they're the same thing!)

In terms of organization and handling, you're better off keeping lots of
short PZ3's, and assembling the frames externally.  It's much easier
to correct mistakes in a short scene!

That was exactly what I was trying to do, and it worked fine.  But it occurred to me that if I want to change the camera angle or lighting in one file, I'd have to duplicate it in the second.

Looks like that's the route I'll have to take.

If you're not changing camera angles and just want to append the animation of the figures, your best bet is to just save the animations of each figure from the 2nd PZ3 as multiframe poses and appending those to the figures on the last frame of the first PZ3.
