OMG! What an accident! Sorry to hear what happened to that poor camera.
Yes Don't drive off with your camera left on the roof of your car!
Thank you for the Tip and hope the new one won't be forgotten again..

By the way Geert, her big brother, Canon 20D, was tucked safely under the seat, so I'm not quite camara-less, but I like the compact when out on the hills.
Sorry for a missfurtune....I would frame it and hang it next to the main door, make sure I remeber every time I am leave a house ...be carefull with a gear I have. I tiped a tripod whith my first Kodak camera, I was horrified, strangly nothing happened whit a camera...( well it fell on a carpet thou...lol)

I live by the rule.. never put anything on the roof of your car ;)
When I actually use the car, normally on my motorcycle :P

maybe you could make a peice of art out of it... smash it to peices, get some plaster laid thick on a plank of wood and stick all the bits on it...

Bummer! I hate it when that happens, you have my sympathy. Best of luck convincing your wife to let you get another -- and a convertible auto to go with it!

Ohhh what a mess!
The only other advise I can give...... is dont set your camera and tripod up on a dark hill, on a windy night wth a loose engagement ring on as you reach out to save the camera and tripod from a bouncy fate! (45 minutes of hubby and I searching with cam and mobile phone lights eventually found the ring)
Oh if you do get a new wife as suggested above make sure you check out her camera gear!!!

Bummers Anthony....I sympathize with your plight, but I must admit your story made for some funny reading. Laughing with you and not at you....These Fujis just can't take the 50 mph bounce test...luckily the other drivers put it out it's misery so it didn't suffer long. Thank goodness it was this one and not the 20D. None the less losing any camera that you have had for so long is a sad loss. I have 4 cams and I know I would be distraught to lose or damage any one of them....Here's hoping the wife finds pity on you!
Aloha,
Dave~
Thats a b*mmmer - sorry to see that picture.
Though it does take a lot to kill a fuji compact. An ex accidentally dropped my 1.3MP Fuji down a long flight of concrete stairs - one repair with a band aid and it still works today!
Best thing I've ever seen fall of a car roof was while standing outside a police station in one of the roughest araa of Leeds. UK cops are generally unarmed and body armour was rare at the time, so seeing a swat style team clambering into their cars like Miami Vice drew quite a crowd
They roared off with lights and sirens. 5 seconds later one very sheepish policeman comes puffing up the hill and retrives his machine gun from the ground to a large round of applause!
Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.
Ooh! Sorry man - time to get a new Timex, huh?
@Mrsparky - that's funny!
Our Nikon rep was a flake - nice guy, but a flake ;-) He got in an argument with someone outside the store one evening and stormed into his car and started to "TAKE OFF!!" I say "started" because there was a large "lump" he rolled over - his camera bag with ALL the Nikon Demo equipment!
That was one funny speedbump, I gotta tell ya! (sorry - laughing now as I'm just remembering it!)
Again - sorry to ear about the camera - car roofs don't have much grip, huh?
-Lew ;-)

Hey, anyone remember the above (old) thread I posted? Imagine a camera getting blown to bits. Anthony, when you get a new camera make sure that the mem-card does not come out to easily in an accident. Its usually the only thing that survives.Question the question. Answer the question. Question the
