Hello all!!

I know I havnt been around on here much lately but wanted to say hi and tell you what i have been up to lately ... been hired by a pro company to be thier new main wedding photgrapher !!
I have my first real paid professional shoot on Friday and Sat  ( shooting a young beautiful couple at a big catherdeal this weekend) . A little nearvous as its my first real paid gig here so would appreciate any good advice !!... The guy who hired me  he will be doing the video end ( i shot his wedding and he loved my work)  has two pro cameras a nikon and a canon with all the extras  . The owners wife does the wedding planning so we are now advertising in our area and I am told much work is to come my way... so guessing i have to step up to the plate here lol. so fingers crossed and deep breath... think i am ready but hoping i don't miss anything in this first shoot for this business.... yikes!!   any tips always appreciated!!... missing you all and looking forward to when i can buy another comp so i can come on again more regularly here...
 love to you all

Well I can't offer you any advice, but I can congratulate you and wish you the very best of luck, but somehow I don't think you'll need any luck. Just relax and know that you are more than capable of doing them proud in fact, let's hope their videography doesn't let your photography down!!!!
Well done. xx

Hi pretty Kimmi..

Good luck in your road of work and I'm sure me too, you will make them very good, as always. The more important it's if you're happy whith what you make, after, it's only details 😄

My best for you !!

well when i shoot weddings, i always take 2 dslr camera & about 3 to 5 one gig flashcard & a laptop with me. i attach a 24-70mm on one camera & attach a 70-200mm on the other for my candid shots. after doing my tweaking on photoshop i creat a musical dvd slide show with a very good software called ***ProShow Gold*** its very cheap & easy to use & brilliant. i also try not to use flash light because it makes the image really flat except on really rear times when i use it as a filling light 4 the shadows.

But there is really no need 4 me to be telling u all of this because we have all seen how good ur shots r, so i am basically telling u something u aready know.

There has been some advice and tips posted here before Kimmers and Bravo on your first Gig and some Pro work... I too always use 2 bodies and the 24-70mm and a 70-200... If you have Pro help re the organisation and timing you are going to have a great start... Back-up plans are vital such as another venue that will look good in the event of poor weather, maybe more of an issue here in the UK than where you are..

I am sure you have the eye to be able to show off those talents we have come to admire here to do something just that little bit different, than the usual "Run of the mill" style images one can often see, in a lot of wedding photography..

And good luck

Be sure to try all of the equipment at least 1 day before the event.

Charge all of the batteries; clean each lens; check that each flash card is
formatted, empty, and can record a test image.

Don't forget to bring lens cleaning supplies, brush, and canned air as well as
rechargers with an extension cord/power strip.  Having an inverter (12v DC to
115v AC) would allow recharge in the car.  Having a fully charged cellphone
and list of contact numbers wouldn't hurt either.  Small notebook, pen and
business cards ...

Last but not least, bring a sense of humor.

p.s. They say that duct tape is the force that holds some events together
... and it has both a light and a dark side.

Thank you for all the advice gosh i didn't even think about the business cards or duct tape and the laptop idea is great too  ... think ill be too busy for it though !!! thank you all !!! tonight i have to do the rehesal so that will give me oppertunitiy to check out the whole catherdral space and lighting !!
ohhh i just read up that if you miss the father of the bride kissing the daughter away that you blow the whole thing ( lol) so trying to figure out how to get them walking down the isle from the back of the isle then real quickly run around them ahead to capture  it from the front ahead of them ( just hoping i dont step on the brides long train when i do that feat lol!!) haha
 thanks again!!!!

first off congrats with the new gig, i'm sure it will be fine :)

i brought this link up a while back but i think it might be useful if you are considering using a flash in the shots:

Good luck and have fun - we had someone take our photo as a group at uni the other day and what got us smiling was the fact that the guy taking the photo was a nutter and was having fun doing it - whether he did that on purpose or not i dont know but it worked, so if any advice can be offered on that basis, smile and be happy and your subjects probably will be too :)

Hi Kimarie, I hope I'm not too late with this, but its worth a look for any weddings you do in the future. I done a wedding recently for some friends and ended up with almost 1500 jpgs of the day.  I never realised how time consuming sorting them all out out would be afterwards. Anyway heres a link someone here gave me which I found useful....
