THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Call me crazy but ill ask... is bryce 6 worth it? got the old 5.1.

Yes yes I know, heard before but despite the fact I use to make huge 1.5 gig scenes I havent made a new picture in well over a year or more.

More important, how soon for 7. If its soon ill just wait a little longer.

I don't have ver.6 yet, and I probably won't upgrade until they fix the material and terrain animation bug in an update, or when ver.7 comes out. It's already been announced that Bryce7 will have replicators, much like Carrara5 does now, and that would be a feature that would make me just have to upgrade. I am still able to do some good work in ver 5.1, though like you, I don't post a new one very often.

I find the new features in B6.1 extremely useful and haven't had a problem with it since installing.

Just barely got it and started playing with it but I say yes.
The upgrade is just $39.95. That buys a couple of good meals out for two people or just over 5 full price tickets to the movies around here.
You get lot's more materials and primitives and I think the layout is better.
You can boolean bryce primitives collapse and save as a mesh.
It is faster.
It definately has more value than previous upgrades or revisions ( I think I paid about $50 for 5.5 for maybe 1/4 as many features)

Also, If no one buys the upgrade the intrest and support that DAZ expends to get version 7 out will drop. Pay a little now and keep things going.

It was more than worth it for me.

I think it's worth it.

It worked out about £20 for me.
I have'nt scratched the surface of the new features. HDRI lighting is hit and miss for me. What i mean is, some scenes seem to benefit, others look worse. Still experementing.
What is great is the ability to organise your libraries better.

All things considered, Its definitely worth the upgrade and its never crashed once on me (spoken with fingers crossed - I have a render still processing thats been going for 14 days now!!). Go ahead and grab it and it'll mean B7 will be here just a little sooner ;-)

I paid 6 bucks for version 6 after paying $49.95 for 5.5 and then received 6.1 FREE, because I was a Faithful Costumer, YEE HAAA, You’d better believe it was worth it and knowing DAZ, the People that Purchase 6.1 will probably get  version 7 for 7 bucks or some ridiculously low price like that!!!!!

6 for $6 was definately worth it even if I haven't madea new image in two years!

Well I'm glad I got it although I'm beginning to just hate the way all imported objects arrive looking like a nasty black hole in the scene - even the ones you've spent hours assigning material zones to in Wings - the objects no longer arrive with their nice Wings colours on it, nor do the untextured .obj files arrive with the nice calm mid-grey texture on them, so that you can at least see what shape everything is.

For this reason I've begun to use 5.5 again just to try out textures and materials - without the hassle.

But I did get a good deal on B6 so hopefully when they finally fix this "bug" or "feature", it'll work okay.

I do very much like the ability to boolean stuff and export models thus made... although that could be better in that it would help enormously if you could export models made and saved as *.obp files and return them to *.obj format.

That way I could get back models that I'd created previously in Wings but (due to theft from car) that now I only have the Bryce *.obp's of them.

The Bryce6 feature of IBL, is very nice I admit, but if it wasn't for the exportation of booleaned models from Bryce now possible with Br6 - I'd say no, not worth it, with the export of booleaned meshes, I say - yes, it is worth it.

But with all the bugs, I'd say keep Br5.5c around (or B5 if you don't have B5.5c) to do all the other jobs that B6 makes harder.

"On another matter, there is a lot of other software to explore in the meantime ;)" ,Like Wings3D, or Blender, or any other open-source, free, softwares you care to name, lol. This era may be f***ed up in many ways, but as far as having choices for absolutely free and wonderful applications to express yourself  artistically  and creatively, in either 2D, or 3D, I suspect we are in, or are quickly approaching a "Golden Age". :-)

Bryce 6.1 HERE
$39.98 -30% Discount for Members = $27.99
You Can not beat that with a stick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
