3D cafe seems to be closed but they have a link to content central. This is actually an index of cad parts from several suppliers. I see spider fans, electronic connectors, as well as mechanical parts on the site. You have to register and download their viewer. You can then save dxf versions of the models.I'm not 100% sure any more, it's been like 2 years since I read it, but I think their engine at the site converts the model on-the-fly to the current format you select. There are many more formats to download than they have when you upload. There are 28 formats to download, but only 9 formats for uploading.
Their supplier downloads used to be pay only, guess things have changed.
I tend to download more than one format. For instance, .SLDPRT, .IGS, .STEP, and .WLD are the formats I typically download from them for each model. The reason is some formats are not completely compatible with some CAD programs, and there are strange things that can happen. Some of the objects might be be connected to another object where it should be separated. For instance, one of the IPOD models the LCD display and the body are one object. So making the LCD window transparent to see a menu may require some editing of the object. .WLD formats import into Bryce as one model, and .DXF tends to crash my Bryce :-( I find .STEP handy, but importing into Rhino one of the large diesel engines takes forever, where .IGS takes less time.
Anyway, it is a nice site and useful. There's a Cyberman head from Dr. Who somewhere in there....
