What are the best render settings generally speaking?

That's a loaded question.

It depends on your scene, textures, lighting etc.

What do you need specifically?

If we can hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominos will fall like a house of cards...checkmate!

You really need to know what each thing does, to know what to have on and when; in order not to waste, nor want.

Shadows, RayTracing, and Dissplacement are powerful functions.  Hitting or missing thier points, would be lousy and time consuming.

I like the automatic settings, nearer to Daft, personally.
