Hi!
I haven't asked since Jan, 2006 according to the 'osity search I just did, so i'm sadly late.
anyway, there is a great little FREE utility called "poserloader" - Copyright 2000 by Mike Audleman {wolfie} BETA 02/24/2000
what this does is make it so that you can unzip a poser file into a directory, point poserloader at it, and it will move all the files to their correct place in the runtime for the file to operate correctly; it also has built in objaction mover functions.
this is not that big of a deal anymore, as most people put the correct file structure in their zip's, but if you have a massive collection of old freestuff, or get some of the older stuff on poserworld, it's really, really handy (it also will examine a PZ3 file and make sure everything referenced is where it's supposed to be, btw).
The problem is that it works fine for me for months, then just stops finding the poser directory structure it's supposed to show you so you can select where to put your files; I get around this by creating a new, empty directory structure, but it's very time consuming to do so, and it would be nice to not have to merge afterwords.
in the past it has been suggested that i use pinstall instead; pinstall doesn't do the objaction process, and if there is something wrong with the structure of the file, it's useless IIRC; makes more sense to just unzip it to the right place.
I've sent Wolfie e-mails pretty religiously over the past 6 years (!) on this, and no longer actually have any hope of getting the problem solved, but I hate to give up the tradition of complaining about it; plus, I hope that someone eventually will explain to me WHY it will work fine for months and then one day just stop working for no particular reason; i'm a programmer-lite myself, and stuff just doesn't DO that.
