iloco: Not sure about the previews. If it doesn't let me know and I can ask e-on why it isn't producing the previews. It runs really fast (at least with my test model) so it probably isn't.
Gareee: You'd need to load the different poser figures into poser first and save each one as a pz3 and put them all in one directory but then it will do the conversion to vob for you. You will need to enter some settings each time it imports the poser files. Its not going to be quite as painless as converting a set of obj files but it will be quicker than doing it all by hand.

I dont have skinvue or vuetools so would be hard for me to see if it shows previews.
That is my reason for asking so I could get skinvue if it did show previews. I dont need skinvue but would buy if your script would show previews when mass converting pz3 to vobs
Do you not have any pz3 to test to see if they save as vobs with previews. I'd be gald to test but don't have skinvue so can not answer your question if it works or desnt work.
I know the other mass converter you had didnt save previews when converting pz3 to vobs. That is my reason for asking my question. :)
Maybe some one who has skinvue can mass convert some pz3 and let us know if it saves the previews of vobs once converted. :)

I'm at work at the moment but I'll test it with some pz3 later (time permitting). I wouldn't hold my breath about them though as this is effectivelly a GUI wrapped around a slightly enhanced version of the script. None of the underlying export functionality has changed - Vue does all the hard work on that and if if wasn't doing it with the old version I'm not sure it will with the new one. If it doesn't I'll post to e-on.

Thanks implish. Yes I didn't get any previews from the other version you had for us to download.
Once I got it figured out it did mass convert the pz3 to vobs as was suppose to.
Only problem was in Vue collections when looking at newly saved vobs the previews didnt show the converted vob.
If it would it would then it would be great. Since it dont its about as fast to do it the hard way and save one at a time so can have a preview in collections.
For all the other file formats I would think it is well worth installing and using. :)

If a dummy pz3 could be "faked" on import, couldn't props of figures be converted in a batch system?
I'm sure if you load any two props or figures into poser, and just save them out, there is a lot of redundant info. The prop or figure, if it's not posed, and static, should have any additiona pz information.
When I look in my lisa's botanicals runtime, I'm looking at a few hundered plants, and I've been wanted to convet them since V6I was released, but I just don't have 10 days to just sit and convert things over.
If I had ONE wish for a V6I feature addition, it would be vob conversion of a prop or figure into vob format.
Even just a prop would help, since many plants have no groups at all, and are just props with morphs.
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
Garee if the mass converter can be made to show previews then I think what you want would be a great idea. If you convert the props to vob and can not see what you converted in your previews when viewing the collections then you would have to load each one again in vue and resave so you could see what is in your preview folder.
I am hoping implish can find a way to save previews. :)

Hi impish,
When I click the link to get the new file, IE says operation aborted and then I get the page not found message. I have tried at home and work - same thing.

Peggy I just got the same message when using IE7 trying to load the page (not the link). I tried loading the page again and this time it didn't do it so I'm not sure what IE doesn't like but its one of those annoying intimitant problems. I'll send you a PM with the direct link.
impworks | vue news blog | twitter | pinterest
It could easily look like it was the link.
The problem was the translation widget I added a couple of days ago. Looks like when it was loaded it tried to do something that IE didn't like. Since when it loaded was after the page loaded it could appear to be happening when clicking on a link on the page. Since it wasn't playing nicelly with the rest of the page in IE so I've dumped it. I'll have to look for another way to put a translation service on to the page.

Thanks! I got the file from your direct link.

No need to bump anything just have a little pattience and I'll get to everything eventually* :-)
I've given it a try with the vob export option and it doesn't produce a preview. On the flip side it does speed up conversion somewhat. I can't change this and will have to ask e-on to see if they will. However if you name your files meaningfully it's not really a huge down side if you think about it. After all if they were still pz3, obj, 3ds or whatever you'd not have a preview and would have to know what they were called to load the right one.
I will post here if and when I have anything else to report.

No ue for the little lecture of me bumping. Sorry you were offended by it. I can wait till the end of time if have to. After all it ws free and I thought I was helping when making suggestions about the preview. I will let it rest until as you say you done with line dancing. Don't break an ankle..:)

iloco it was a joke hence the :-)
Given your :) I thought you were joking and i was joining in which is why I included the line dancing joke comment because all I end up when I've been forced to line dance at a christmas party a long time ago was bump and bang into people...
impworks | vue news blog | twitter | pinterest
You need to come over here and we go to Nashville if you serious about line dancing......:)
No I wasn't joking when bumping the thread. I was really Interesed if you had found out anything about the previews and didnt want it to get buried and all forgotten about.
I take it what we get is what we see from your reply unless you contact e-on and they help with getting previews. With them so busy I can see it might take long time. :) I like the concept you have put together and hope it can be finished so will show previews someday. :)

As soon as I know something I'll let everyone know...

I was really looing forward to this new release but since I dont have the skinvue or Vuetools that are required to have those python files I will not be able to try it out and see how it works.
Thanks anyway for making something a lot of vue people will get some good out of. :)
I will wait untill you have the files that are needed to run this script. You siad you might add them later. :)

mrsparky - I've not tried it with Vue 5 Infinite so I can't be certain. There have been quite a lot of improvements with the export function in python from Vue 5 to Vue 6. I'll do a reinstal of Vue 5 Infinite and give it a try tomorrow night (usual disclaimers about life and floods getting in the way may apply )
iloco - I'm still pretty new to the wxPython stuff so I don't want to package it in till I know if there is a problem it hopefully won't be something with my script. Just making supporting the scripts easier. When I get a bit of time to look at this though I will do and I'll post details here.
impworks | vue news blog | twitter | pinterest
I've given it a try and I'm sorry to say it doens't work in Vue 5.
Yup I'm in England although so far (thankfully) I'm just wet not flooded and my garden looks like an EcoSystem populated with new everything gone mad growing plant set.

eldritch48 - Are you using the GUI version or the older version which required you to edit the file by hand? The GUI version is still in Beta and so you can find the link to download it from the bottom of my blog post.
If your using the GUI version you can change the paths by going to the File menu and changing the import and export paths.
Sometime next week I'll probably move it to being a none beta since no one has reported any problems.
Hope that helps.

A few months ago I made a script available that uses Vue 6 Infinite to convert between different 3d file formats. I've just posted the latest version with a proper shinny interface to my blog...
MassConvert 0.5.1 Now with GUI Goodness
Hopefully this will make it easier to use as there is no longer any need to tinker with the python to use it.
