Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 03 1:41 pm)
A couple of points:
1. She's too young to retire. She'll have to live on the street.
2. As for the 2nd pic.....are you sure that her name isn't Paris, and not Misaki?
This is the sad eventual fate of many so-called '3rd-party' Poser figures. Although the DAZ figures are technically 3rd-party figures, too. At least in the Poser environment.
Seriously, I'm sad to see Misaki fading from the scene. She's
a "Goldilocks" figure ... simple enough to animate fast, but
highly expressive and well-proportioned.

Look at the bright side -- she'll now become a rare collector's item. If you've got her, then people will look at your renders and say: "Hmmmmmm. I wonder what figure he used in that image?"
Your points :
*1. She's too young to retire. She'll have to live on the street.
*The average lifetime of a Poser figure is about 2 years before they are being replaced. Misaki does not even have a replacement.
2. As for the 2nd pic.....are you sure that her name isn't Paris, and not Misaki?
Is anything showing that shouldn't ? Do you see her lawyer(s), mother and about 100 paparazzi ? If no, then it is not Paris.
I understand Renderosity doesn't want to remain stuck with V3 texture nr 5000 but for items that are valuable other than moneywise they could apply a "protected" status, immune for dwindling sales figures.
That is, if they really are a "community" and not merely a sales department extension.
Uh-oh -- (pssst -- I'll mention that it was a joke, just in case)
1. V3 lasted a lot longer than 2 years. In fact, she's still being supported by the commercial market even now -- well after the release of V4. Although it's true that most of the market is now focused on V4. But V3 isn't gone yet. Plus Posette -- of all figures -- has a diehard core of fans (albeit they exist as a small minority -- but they'd never admit to that fact).
2. I'm sure that the paparazzi are all there -- standing just outside of the frame of the picture.

BTW - Miki & Miki2 have been enjoying a fair amount of success in the market, too.
IMHO, a given figure's success or lack thereof over the long term is largely tied to corporate sponsorship of the figure. If the figure is a one-off from a lone source: then it'll probably have a limited lifespan in the market. But if a figure has significant corporate backing, then it will probably survive. Unless if it's truly seriously flawed or else just plain unappealing -- in which case nothing will save it.
Some people reflexively believe that anything made by a (GASP!) corporation is inherently evil. But our modern lives -- with average lifespans greater than 35 years -- simply wouldn't be possible without the work of those evil corporations.
That's also why even Don & Judy are still around. Unnoticed: but still around. Without corporate backing: they'd have both gone through the clearance section long ago.
PS - I am planning on buying Rikishi -- as well as all of the support packages for him. He looks to be a great figure.
He's also available in Wardrobe Wizard, and that's a HUGE plus for any figure.
Following the link to Yoshitaka Ichikawa. (3dCat)'s site on the Misaki page, there is a cute grasshopper under characters.
It doesn't say what format it is in, but on the clicking on the more info link, it says something about "Closing an eye and a mouth can be closed by Morph Mixer." - so I guess this is not a Poser character - right?
In regards to the character disappearing, the same is happening to Gloria & Clark, a lot of their stuff in in clearance as well.

Xeno's point about corporations fits in with my "celebrity rays",
though I didn't intend it that way.... It's simply true that flash and
buzz sells things, and it takes a sizable amount of cash to
generate flash.
Even while we grumble about the culture of celebrity, and claim to
be Unique Individualists, we see all those flashes and think
something like this: "Hmm. If all those photogs think she's
interesting, maybe I should look into it ... and maybe I should buy
some of her videos." We just can't help it. Attention breeds
attention.
