Subject: Vicky 4 complete

Sorry guys, I have been without my computer so long that I forgot that I purchased Vicky 4 Complete just before I had the failure.

I need help with installing her.  I know it says to put her in the Runtime folder, but how and which one...Poser 5 or Poser 6?   I guess I need a more  detailed explanation than the one I've seen so far.

Can someone explain this to me, as I'd love to try her out when I get up to playing again.

Thanks,

JudithA

Install V4 into your main Runtime.  I notice in another thread you are asking how to plug your P5 Runtime into P6, so in your case, I assume P6 is your main app.  In that instance, you should install V4 in P6.

OTOH, you could throw it into both, just in case.

you can install it to either or both, depending on which program you use the most or want to use these products in.
You can also install it to a RUNTIME that isn;t even in Poser...one that resides on your hard drive...which can be named whatever you want so you recognize it...many choices.

The easiest way is to just run the DAZ installer...then choose which Poser version you want the files installed into. All will go to the correct locations automatically, and then enjoy. Be sure to read the readme page that is generated at the end of the installation. It tells where to find the products within Poser and other tidbits.

HTH ... later , we can discuss how to set up separate runtimes, and so forth. Right now it sounds as if the more straightforward path will be the best until you are more comfortable with installing these files.

IMO external runtimes are the way to go.

I find it keeps everything quicker & smoother.

Dave-So, Sam Therapy, and Klutz, Hi all...again.

I haven't had any luck installing V4 complete.  When I go to figures/Daz, I see an icon with Vic 4 to Vic 3.  Doesn't open and wants a search for the files.  Nada files that work or open, and then freezes Poser.

I can find Vic 4 in Daz / People files when I go into my computer, but can't find it in Poser runtimes to open it.  I tried letting Daz install it where it wants to, and then I tried installing in Poser 6 Runtimes.  Nothing seems to be working.  I must still be doing something wrong.

I get the clothes, the poses, but no figure.  Oh, also when I go to load the Morphs..ps_ pe070_V4Morphs it searches but doesn't find the right place to load them.   I've never had this kind of trouble loading anything before, but Vic 4 is stumping me.

Lastly......is there any chance that I got a bad download?  (lol...sorry it's my only failsafe for feeling so stupid.)

Hmmm....

I have to admit I really dislike the .exe installers Daz use.
They fire the files just about anywhere, it seems to me.....
What I tend to do is force the exe file to install to a new folder.
Once it has done that I copy the files manually where I want them.

Doesn't really help you out of the mire of where they have been put, but at least I hope it will be useful for future reference.

TBH I would be tempted to do that anyway....At least then you will have copies in logical places.

I've never had trouble with their installers actually.

If you are installing V4.1 of Vicky 4 Complete, make sure to install the Base and the Morphs++ into your Poser 6 runtime (or what ever version you use primarily). Before the installer ends, in addition to the usual check mark for "open Read Me File" there should also be a check to run two quick utilities that finish setting up the V4 with the Morphs and the V4 to V3". Run those.

If you are installing off your old pre- V4.1 files, the upgrade to 4.1 is free, just go into your account settings there, itemized list of purchases and find V4 Complete and click the "reset" link next to it. Daz will reset the downloads for you, which will be the V4.1.

Make sure to run both the Base and the Morph++ installs. I forgot to run the Morph++ when I upgraded to 4.1 and the V4 to V3 didn't work until I did and ran the utility at the end of the install.

Dear Klutz, fionter, Dave-So, etc.

I hang my head in shame...  The only thing wrong with installing Vic 4 was getting the wrong download.  I happened to pick the DS-PC download.  I guess I'd better get my glasses adjusted for when you have all those confusing downloads.

I have Vic 4 up and running, and can't wait to learn more about her, and also get her some added goodies. ;)

I think I should check into external runtimes too, as I live in two different states, and I'm always updating one or the other.

Thank you all for your time and expertise.
