Subject: Converting to Mesh

I've been trying to convert a surface or curve  to a mesh object. I've been browsing the Blender wiki, but haven't found anything that will tell me how to do this. And apparently you can't unwrap, or possibly even UV map, anything that isn't a mesh object.

So, once again, I entreat the wise sages of Blender to help me on my quest.(That was memorable, wasn't it)?

In object mode, go to the object menu and select "convert object type" up at the top of the menu.

Or just hit alt-c  😄

Thanks for the tip. Actually, I figured it out right after posting this thread. However, I still had trouble because the "popup" menu disappeared too quickly, and I didn't see it.
