Subject: How do you open a (.pz2) file in Poser 7

Bumdog ( ) posted Sat, 30 June 2007 at 1:35 PM · edited Sat, 18 January 2025 at 1:58 PM

I downloaded a figure, but its in a .pz2. Poser 7 doesnt say it can open pz2, just pz3. Is there anyway around this?

put it in a pose folder. start poser, load the figure, go to the library/pose folder, then load the pose file.

Worked,  but apparently what I download didnt have all the files I need, because it keeps say "Locate this file...".

got it from PLANIT 3D. http://www.planit3d.com/source/poser/gregor/gregor.html

know of any more reliable souces for poses?

those guys are reliable AFAIK. it means ya don't have the necessary morphs or figure, especially if it's for a morph-inj thing like v3.

It may be that you unpacked the zip with all the files in one directory; normally you'll unpack the zip and it will leave a directory hierarchy starting with Runtime, and you'll copy the whole thing into your Poser home directory (or alternate Runtime directory if you have one set up).

So I dont understand. I downloaded that figure, but I havent the files to make it work. What else do I need?

vincebagna ( ) posted Sat, 30 June 2007 at 3:16 PM

It looks like a morph for M3 and Freak. But if you don't own the Head and Body morphs for these figures, you won't be able to load this morph.

Its lists "Locate Files"  that simply arent there. Can anyone else run this download. This figure is perfect for an animation I want to do. Does anyone know of another (free) figure simular to this one?

Where can I download them?

vincebagna ( ) posted Sat, 30 June 2007 at 3:23 PM

The M3 Head and Body morphs are at DAZ. But it's not free.
M3 head morphs
M3 Body morphs

Otherwise you could also use Apollo Maximus who is free.

This package is for M3 and/or the FREAK.  You'll need the head and body morphs for either or both of those characters for it to work.

I downloaded the file and took a look at the contents and everything is there.  You just need to unzip it to a folder or to your Runtime (I unzipped to my M3 runtime) and apply it from there.  To apply a .pz2 file just go into the pose folder that's created and double-click on the thumbnail once you have your character loaded and the body selected.

BTW - let me guess - it's asking you to locate the file called "mytrans.jpg"  and  "gregor_teeth.jpg" right?  That's because the paths to the files are wrong in the .pz2.  It's a simple fix.  Just open the pose file in a text editor and do a search for "F:PZ3'srendersmytexture" and then do a replace to ":Runtime:textures:VoodooDesigns:gregor:"  without the quotation marks.

DO i put them into the Poses folder, or the charector folder?

Man I love this site.

Victoria_Lee ( ) posted Sat, 30 June 2007 at 4:40 PM

BumDog, using WinZip (or your extraction program) just unzip the folder to wherever you have M3 installed (or the FREAK if you plan to use the file on him).  Make sure "Use Folder Names" is checked.  This will put everything where it's supposed to go.

To edit the MAT_Gregor.pz2 file, just open it in a text editor and follow the Search/Replace I told you about in my previous post.  Once you've done that just save the file.

.pz2 files are Pose files and will be found in your Pose Folder.
.cr2 files are Character files and there are none in this package.

Everything in here is a pose file so every file that ends with .pz2 (and it's associated .png) will go into the Pose folder.  Everything that ends with .jpg will go into the textures folder.  The nice thing about zipping from the runtime is that everything is where it supposed to be.  The biggest problem with the file is the paths in the MAT_Gregor pose file since they need to be edited.  I have already sent doc an email about this and I corrected my copy but you really need to learn how to edit files yourself.
