Subject: Food Lighting Equipment

I warned you I would try to participate more.  :)  Here's my first question.
I am the sole graphic designer/photographer for a wholesale grocery company and monthly have food photos to prepare and shoot.  They are no longer approving me shooting at home and want to buy me anything I need for shooting at work.  At home, I have cheap gear (work lights, white sheets, etc.) but if I have a corporate budget, wow. I don't even know where to start. I'm sure it will be under $1,000 but that's better than the $5 silver work lights I use.  :)
So the heart of this question is what do you folks use for your studio product work? Maybe not food, but just marketing product shots in general would be the same.
   Thanks,
        Rich

Here's a sample of what I do.     The house is Poser, the table is in my back yard, the sub I shot on my kitchen counter, the grass and shading is all Photoshop.   The text is added in Illustrator when the final image was done.  Critiques are welcome. I would love to get better at this.

You might be interested in what we discussed in this thread. I ended up getting a boom, nice tripod and large peice of white formica, among other things. I'll post a photo of the setup later.

You're welcome. Here is the set-up. It looks a bit rough right now, but can help me take some nice pics!

I see that TwoPynts has already mentioned the (excellent)

Attached Link: studio thread

This thread covered lighting kits, lights, color temperature, etc.

Other recent threads covered tripods.

My suggestion is to get a tripod like the Bogen/Manfrotto 3021B PRO.

Head with Quick Release & 31" Tripod Case.

The advantage of this tripod is that the center post can be removed and
mounted as a horizontal arm.  This allows the camera to be placed directly
over the subject.  If you use the tripod in that way, you might also want to
have the additional stability given by using the
