The 'lame fabric shaders' title had me worried for a split second there... WHAT? Bagginsbill made a lame shader? I never saw Bagginsbill make anything lame! gasp   :tt2:

You know, that whole thing had me going to the www.m-w.com, and looks like with or without grave, it means the same thing...
I believe alt+numpad138 is e with a grave  è... not that you'd really want to put that in a file name...  Is it suppose to have a grave or acute? Lamé  alt+numpad130  beats me... shrugs

Okay, I hope I didn't come across as criticizing you... I was making fun of how I didn't catch on that you were taling about a metal lame right away, and had me going....

The morphing tool is pretty cool, though takes some getting used to its quirks. I used it to fix some poke through on the chest, and to get the shirt to go over the laces on the pants.

Re: special characters, It's a bit tedious but if you're on Windows (and I think you are) you can do it through the charmap.exe utility (Start menu -> Run -> charmap).  The shaders look really great, nice job.

I rendered an image using the script on my gal's dress.

But ir is too big to upload to my gallery and when I tried saving for web, it got fuzzy.

So I made a couple of renders for this thread.

Here they are using two different light sets.

I love the gold look and sure would like to make the original dress look that way.

But I want to keep the actual texture or designs in the material of my maps.
Maybe I could use your set with bump mapping and displacement mapping to get the look I want.

If I manage to get it right, I'll post some more images.

Bagginsbill, is it all right to re-distribute the shader, with proper credit?

With EnglishBob's help, I managed to apply "safety stripes" to the VP jumpsuit as a decal using the shader.  Using blenders and appropriate transparency masks, I can apply shiney stripes without worrying too much about the original texture, which saves wear and tear on me from creating new textures.  (I'm not very good at it, for one thing.)

Thank you!  I'm afraid I distributed the Antonia 1.2 boots with the shader, THEN remembered I hadn't asked yet.  [wince]  Please forgive me my impetuosity.

And thank you for your generosity in creating all these marvelous shaders.  They range from the fantastic to the mind-boggling.

No problem. Shaders I post on threads are meant to be used - just a word of reference in the readme so others can find them as well is all I ask.

BB: quick question.  How do you adapt these shaders to PP2010?

hborre ( ) posted Fri, 20 May 2011 at 10:30 AM

There is no special adaption for PP2010 unless the shaders contain gamma correction node.  In that instance, you either turn off Gc in your render settings or adjust all Gc nodes from 2.2 to 1.  I haven't looked at these shaders for quite some time, so I don't recall the node hierarchy off hand.

bagginsbill ( ) posted Fri, 20 May 2011 at 11:00 AM · edited Fri, 20 May 2011 at 11:01 AM

These do contain gamma compensation, though, and they contain colors that are supposed to be factors which will change when render GC is enabled. Unlike my more recent materials where I actually use gamma "correction", this is not so easy to change to remove the in-built compensations.

Remember the example of the Daz skin shaders - they do not contain gamma "correction", but the do contain "compensation" and they are unusable with render GC unless they are significantly re-parameterized. The same goes with this shader.

Basically this shader was designed around a non-linear color space and only works right with relatively narrow lighting conditions.

I'll take a look at updating this.

Using BB's shaders with mods by EnglishBob, Thalek has released his free safety stripe set for the VP/PD Jumpsuits. Download at link above.

Thanks to Thalek for making it and thanks to BB and EnglishBob for allowing this and the mods to redistributed.
