Subject: M3 Allie and Axis uniforms

UWN ( ) posted Tue, 21 August 2007 at 11:28 AM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 1:54 PM

Hey all,

I am having some trouble finding Allie uniforms to comform to M3 and have only came across one Axis uniform by "adh3d".

I was hoping there would be a big selection of uniforms on this subject area, but it seems very minimal in my search thus far.

If anyone could point me in the direction of uniforms i would be very greatful.

thanks a lot.

Matt

Not uniforms for M3 as such but you might like to check out Vogel Einze and Vogel Zwei in the RMP, these are complete lo-poly German soldiers of WW2.

Thanks for replying guys.

Stallion that is a useful link you have given me. I am sure i can make use of some of these uniforms, so thanks a lot.

thefixer i am aware of the vogel packs designed by thunderr, which i have been considering for long distance low poly shots, but for the close up shots i need something with higer textures, that is why i need M3 pacific uniforms. Thanks for pointing it out none the less.

cheers guys and if anyone else can point me towards more resources for m3 Allies and Axis comforming uniforms that would be great.

Batlab has a SS officer uniform here in the Marketplace.  It's without insignia but a little digging around on the Net will get you more insignias than you can shake a stick at.

Sam that is an excellent link you have given me for Batlab's German Soldier Officer Uniform. That quality is exactly what i am looking for. It would just be nice if i could find a uniform of this caliber for a US soldier and a regular German infantry soldier to complete what i need.

mrsparky again your links have been very insightful. The vietnam unifrom is not quite what i am looking for, although yes it bares similarities. The uniform for M2 is not high quality enough. The other unifroms again are fantastic for distance shots, but do not quite fit the bill for close ups. If i could find those exact us and german unifroms made by adh3d, but higher res that is what i need. It may be that no uniforms of this quality exist, but if anyone reading this thread begs to differ then please enlighten me.

Parkled i am not after Russian uniforms, Just US and German, but if you know of this vendor that person may cater for other armies?

cheers guys for all the responses it's useful.

Some free uniforms here for the P4Male, so if you have a clothing conversion software, you could try converting them from P4Male to M3:

Also, the M3 german uniforms may also be available at PoserClub ( Japanese site requires free sign-up)

*mrsparky again your links have been very insightful
*Thanks

*AH3d's US Paratrooper can be found in my post above.

His new german can be found here...

*but do not quite fit the bill for close ups
*Got his german last night and it's pretty good - nice set of accesories with it.
Used with PanosMP40 and Cyphre's K4 Bunker Set [link below] it's spot on.

Yes the textures might be an issue for really tight close ups at hi res - but thats no biggie.
His mapping is easy to use so making new maps wouldn't take long. I'd make a set but I'm tied up with another sci-fi military product at the mo.

For a free german uniform
http://www.vanishingpoint.biz/freestuff.asp?StartNo=321 you may find the helmet is a little better than others out there, and mix and match parts from adh3d or others.
I have an updated version, but not sure I am going to release it due to other future products at VP.

Infinity 10 the first link you have given me has some useful jackets and boots, could not see any trousers though, unless they are buddled in with the boots or jacket. They will do fine for LS's, but not CU's. You said about conversion software, any ideas about what software to use?

I checked that poserclub, but could not access the market only the downloads section, which i presume is free? i did not see anything that caught my eye on a quick browse. Althought what do you expect with anything that is free.

What has become apparent in all of the help i have been given so far is the lack of US uniforms. I am not doing to badly with the German soldiers, all i really could do with now is a hi res version of the wehrmacht soldier., but i do not see any US uniforms so far that are really any good for world war 2, except adh3d's airborne for LS's.

UWN - I was thinking you could use a clothing converter (but you'd need to buy it and install it) such as PhilC's Wardrobe Wizard.  That's the only one I use so I can say it will work.  The link I gave you for the uniforms - yeah, I think the trousers and boots are worked as one piece.  As for Poser Club, they have 100++ items free now, so a lot of scrolling through pages.  I recall German officer and maybe US army officer jackets but that's about it.

mrsparky considering you have first hand knowledge of the actual products that is always promising. I do like the Nazi models by adh3d and as you said the texture maps could be updated, although i was hoping for a more speedy approach, as i want to make animations not still images, so i was hoping that i would not have to concern myself with modeling and texturing. However i don't like the look of the US airborne troopers it may be the actual colour of the unifrom and the ammount of pockets and squared padding on the lower legs, seems to give the charachter more of an oblong feel. It would be better if the trousers were borken up from the jacket, like the nazi creating some contrast, but that is only my opinion. Thanks for the advice.

ranman i downloaded a couple of the free vanishingpoint models yesterday. They are not bad at all for a free model. i must sound like a stuck record, but they are not suitable for CU's. It's a great site though a lot of good models, especially for verhicles, just like gunpoint 3d. You said you have an updated version of the model, what exactly have you updated?

adh3d glad to see you replying to this post. You said you were making new Allie and Axis unifroms, will they be higher res textures this time?

Infinity 10 thanks a lot i will check wardrobe wizard out.

adh3d ( ) posted Wed, 22 August 2007 at 2:43 PM

In the las model, for M3, I use texture around 1000 x xxxxx for each cloth, anyway, yes, I can make bigger textures.

UWN ( ) posted Wed, 22 August 2007 at 3:07 PM

Oh right i did not realize they were that large, but obviously glad to hear that you can make larger textures. Do you have BUMP maps included with you M3 German Soldier model?

mrsparky ( ) posted Wed, 22 August 2007 at 3:19 PM

UWN - after buying the german and the jeep I'd say you won't go wrong with adh3d's stuff.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

adh3d ( ) posted Wed, 22 August 2007 at 3:29 PM

UWN, it doesn't need bum maps because the things that must have relief like, for example, the jacket eagle or the helmet shields... have been modeled, for example in the eagle case, I have made a "eagle" model the same size of the texture eagle.

Thanks mrsparky.
