The point here isn't the inferiority of angels vis-a-vis their Creator (as in the passage that you've cited); rather it's the comparison with......us.  As in Daniel's reaction -- which would likely be our own.  Only we'd be more likely to be among the men who "fled to hide themselves".

BTW - I believe that there has been some misapprehension of my earlier post.  I wasn't making the claim that angels themselves are perfect in the same sense as the Creator.  I was merely observing that the sight of true perfection would probably kill us.

It would definitely do to us at least what it did to Daniel.  We'd suffer considerably by the comparison........a comparison which we are mercifully spared from being forced to see directly in this life.

Of course, someone can always argue the idea that "true perfection" doesn't exist -- which is a line of thinking which fits in perfectly (pun intended) with post-post-post (how many times?) modern thinking.

But.....some of us believe that there's an absolute ideal which we fall WELL short of.  WELL short of.

I was following up on an earlier statement I made. Yes, I see what you're talking about. Seeing the verses were being brought out why not? Of course somebody would be frightened. That post was about knowing perfection also.

"As imperfect creatures, we self-evidently aren't capable of identifying perfection.
We may think we can and we may even be right, but we can't possibly be sure."

True!

I'm sorry I rattled you XENOPHONZ.

😕

Uh......I appreciate the sentiment.  But "rattle me" wasn't something that you did.  😉  Trust me on that point.

I'll interpret your comment as being sincere -- and not as sarcasm.  I don't think that you are the sarcastic type.  Which is actually a breath of fresh air in here.

True perfection may exist, but we, as imperfect beings, are not competent to define what is perfect.   Our brains are those of a species that has spent most of its time on Earth as a hunter-gatherer.   We are the lucky ones.   Our ancestors, i.e. the ancestors of those of us alive now, thought, perhaps, "I wonder what those red berries would look like, if I smeared them on the wall of the cave in the shape of a reindeer."  The ones who didn't make it thought, "I wonder what those red berries taste like."

I understand your point, Morgano.  And I largely agree with what you are saying.  We aren't debating on that score.

I did not make the claim that we (as imperfect creatures) would be able to recognize true perfection if it walked up and slapped us in the face.  However: I did make a point as to the effect that the sight of true perfection would have on us..........because we'd be forced by the very experience to become intensely aware of our own imperfection in a way that the human spirit could not handle.

You to tell it like you see it. Not a bad quality.

Quite right. It helps to remember that almost everything about our culture is fake and that we are endlessly fed lies from cradle to grave. *D

Beauty has been connected with vanity. It's also considered desirable. A diamond or a ruby is desirable. What younge woman doesn't want to be attractive and desirable? Vanity is connected with something that is worthless to pursue. Something hollow and empty. If the pursuit of beauty over rides all other facets of life like being kind and honest which are other things that make us whole and complete, then it's a case of vanity. There is a difference between wanting to be desirable (being something of high value and attractive) as compared to just being vain and conceited. If you considered yourself to be a beautiful person and you were on a sinking ship. Would that give you the right to be in line ahead of the ugly people trying get into the life boats? You might get offered the special treatment. Are you the kind of person that would wait your turn anyways because you were concerned for their safety? Thats more important.
