I can't believe no one has answered this. It would help to know which version you are using, as P6 and P7 are very different in their approach to IBL.
P6 with IBL only should not produce any shadows at all. If you have AO enabled, it does look nasty on a face. P7 uses HDRI, so probably does do shadows, but I don't have it.
If you have any shadow-casting lights in the scene, which type of shadows are you using? Generally, shadow maps give better results, but only if you set a larger map size, etc. Also, using the shadow cams to optimize the shadows helps a lot. I read about it somewhere else, but don't remember where. Bagginsbill posted about it here a couple of months ago. I can't remember how completely he explained the process, but the results are quite spectacular.
Give some more details, and I'm sure someone can help you.

Hi There, I´m using IBL Light in a poser project in wich a woman face (V4-Lorelei) is in zoom... but when i reder it (firefly) strange shadows appear in her face (the shadows seems fractured)... does anyone knows what can i do to make this shadows look better ??
