MC6 is a Material Collection - ie, a collection of all materials used on an object. Think of V3, with several Material Zones.
MT5 is a single material, applied to just a single zone or a prop with only one material.
I'm guessing you saved the hair file incorrectly, and should have selected "Material Collection" from the dialog box.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
You have created a single material rather than a collection. When you save to the material library in the Material rom you will have an option to choose which one to create. You'll need to try again
A MT5 will apply a single material to the selected material zone(whatever the name) a MC6 is a collection and will apply materials to the same named material zones as the original figure.

Ok, after reading this little tutorial here, I have a few questions:
http://www.vincebagna.com/tutorials/matpose/matposeen.htm
I understand it.... but when I open up the .mt5 file for the hair i just did yesterday, instead of "mtlCollection" i have:
actor $CURRENT
what do i change this to so when i finish this and put it in the poses, it'll read it properly? The hair in question is A3 Mitsu Hair (a hair file)
Also, whats the difference between an Mc6 file and a Mt5?
Rarer than a hairy egg and madder than a box of frogs....
