Subject: opinions on 3D-Brush?

love2all ( ) posted Mon, 08 October 2007 at 1:53 AM · edited Sat, 10 August 2024 at 5:57 AM

I am currently testing a program called 3D-Brush which is available at http://www.3d-brush.com/index.html. It seems that together with Inagoni plugin Deeper ( http://www.inagoni.com/content.php?content.2 ) it would make a good addition to use with carrara. But I hate to admit that I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the 3D-Brush Program.I would be grateful for any input from Carrara experts. Can this program add to Carrara? BTW 3D-Brush is on sale for $70 this october. That's down from the regular $210 price.

3DBrush does a better job than in Hexagon. Not as good as in Z-Brush maybe. But, when you get to understand the unusual English, do you need any better?
It looks like free updates also for a while--a bargain 3D Painting App!

bwtr,
I am totally new to working with something like
3D-Brush. Does it actually sculpt the geometry or is it just for textures?

It does both.  Though you can sculpt in Carrara6 (?Pro) now also. I think you can download the demo version still. It really is worth investigating for those who can not afford any of the other costly paint programmes or Z-Brush.

I think it potentially is better/easier to use (more logical!) for those who only need occasional use than anything around, by far!  A few odd quirks in nomenclature and methods maybe, but these are likely to be upgraded regularly for free it seems.

It seems the designer of the app comes from a Max/Maya background (fortunately not LightWave!)--once he gets the message of more regular, "?universal" approaches/protocols ,well, I think it will be  even more fantastic!

My best efforts so far. the red thingy is a Carrara primitive sphere with a "normal" texture applied. no changes were made to the geometry of the sphere itself.
