ok- I know this is weird.

But this happens ONLY- I repete ONLY on renderosity.

When ever I look at the MP pages or the freestuff pages or the halloween contest pages my modum interface crashs. Told ya it weird.

The forums and ALL other sites I go to work just fine. But any of the pages that are image intensive crashs.

I never heard od a site code crashing like this before.

Any ideas?

Ken

I saw that **geoegress** was wondering why his,

modum interface crashs

... sometimes ...

This is just an educated guess ...

There are 3 main possibilities: heat, memory problems and HDD problems.

  1. heat ... check for dust blocking any air flow into/out of the PC case.
Also check for dust builup on any of the fans (processor, power supply,
case fans, etc.)  After checking and with the power off, use a "can of air"
to clear the dust.  Do not use a high pressure hose like what you would
see at an auto repair shop -- my mechanic says he blew components
right off the motherboard by doing that.  LOL

  2. Memory timing (also overclocking) ... this could be an issue and would
show up during times with high computing demand.  Download (free!) and
run the MemTest86 memory diagnostic.  Heat related memory errors are
also a possibility.  Run the diagnostic overnight ... at least.

  3. HDD problems ... this is a little less likely, but ... If your are having HDD
problems it could affect the swap file.  You could try to locate a HDD
diagnostic program from the manufacturer of your PC of the HDD manufacturer.

If you want to be sure about the cause and cure, run the memtest86
diagnostic both before and after getting the dust out of the case.

Let us know how this works out.
